Rosemary Frances Fahey Conlin of Burlington passed away with her children at her bedside on December 9th after a lengthy illness. She was 81 years old.

Rosemary was born on April 5th, 1944 to Frances Mary (nee Doherty) and Martin J. Fahey and grew up in Arlington, MA. She attended Saint Agnes and Arlington High School. Upon graduation, she pursued her associates degree at Aquinas College in Newton, where she met many lifelong friends before graduating as a legal secretary.

“Re”, as her loved ones called her, worked for several insurance companies during the course of her career, including Wausau Insurance of Wisconsin. Her colleagues there enjoyed talking to her on the phone and drawing out her Boston accent with sayings like “I pahked my cah in Hahvahd Yahd.”

Ironically, it was a parking ticket that led to a chance meeting of the love of her life, former Belmont Patrolman Thomas J. Conlin. Rosemary and Tom married in September 1972 and moved to Burlington where they enjoyed 10 beautiful years together, welcoming their children Frances and James before Tom’s untimely passing in 1983.

Determined to provide the best for her children, Rosemary resolved to do all she could for them – getting involved in their school PTOs, Pop Warner, and BHS Boosters. She never missed a recital or a game and somehow found time to plan numerous trips over the years from nearby destinations of Hampton Beach and The Cape to far away ones like Disney World and Ireland/England.

When Re had time to relax, she could be found watching a Patriots or Bruins game on TV. She was a particularly fierce fan of the Patriots having attended games since they played as the Boston Patriots of Nickerson Field. When her children were old enough to walk, she would bring them to Sullivan Stadium on her own which was a rarity for a woman in those days. She enjoyed many years as a season ticket holder, supporting them through all their seasons. Her last game, at the unveiling of Tom Brady’s bronze statue in August was fitting for a fan of her strength.

Rosemary passed her love of sports not only onto her children but her grandchildren too. She adored her granddaughters Anabelle and Caroline, attending their cheer, dance, and hockey games at every opportunity. They will miss her unwavering support and competing with her cats for a spot on her lap.

A devout Catholic, Re never missed mass and always reiterated the saying that “God fits the back for the burden.” She believed there was nothing that God would give her that she could not handle and her resilience at all times was exemplary.

In her family, Rosemary is predeceased by her husband Thomas J.Conlin, her parents, her brother William Fahey, her sister-in-law Kay, her sister Mary Frances Wood, her brother-in-law Peter and her nephew Daniel Fahey. "She is survived by her children, Frances Conlin of North Grafton and James Conlin of Burlington, her granddaughters Anabelle and Caroline Luippold and their father Benjamin Luippold." She was the loving “Aunt Re” to her nephews John Fahey and his wife Catherine of Burlington, Thomas Fahey and his wife Lisa of Tampa, Florida, her nieces Maura Mazzocca and her husband Paul of Burlington, Myrtha, wife of the late Daniel Fahey of Methuen, and her grandnieces and nephews: Amanda Seminara (Michael), Michael Fahey (Greta), Jessica Murphy (William), Zack Mazzocca, Alexandria Fahey, Victoria Fahey, Kevin Fahey, Matthew Fahey and Molly Fahey. She is also predeceased by her lifelong childhood friend Geraldine and her husband John Magee and survived by their children Holly Senykoff and John Magee. Finally, she is survived by her beloved friends, Jo-Ann Patterson, Jackie McDonough, Helen Murphy, Anne Marie Nicholson, Karen Jensen, Sally McFarland, Mary Donaldson, Donna Thomas and all their families.
