Karin L (Scappini) Clegg Obituary

Karin L. (Scappini) Clegg, 77, of Woburn, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 17th, in the ICU at Beth Isreal Lahey Health and Medical Center surrounded by her loving family, after a period of declining health.

Karin was born in Medford and was the beloved daughter of the late Joseph and Angelina (Zani) Scappini. She was raised in Woburn and was a graduate of Woburn High School. Early in her career, Karin worked for many years as a medical secretary at the Old Soldiers Home in Chelsea.

It was during a night out on the town in Lowell, among friends, that Karin met the love of her life, E. Daniel Clegg. A strong Italian woman, Karin, was swept off her feet by a quiet Irish gentleman. The two were married in August of 1971, and later welcomed their daughter, Deirdre. Following the birth of Deirdre, Karin retired from her career to devote herself fully to motherhood, creating a warm, loving, and welcoming home for her family.

Karin and Daniel were married for over 41 years prior to his passing in July of 2013.

Karin took great joy in caring for those she loved. She was known for her big Italian meals and loved entertaining family and friends around her table. She always took pride in her appearance and delighted in trips to Marshalls, TJ Maxx, and HomeGoods, where she developed a true talent for interior decorating. Karin genuinely loved to shop and made every trip with both her daughter and grandson a memorable one.

A loving and devoted grandmother, Karin cherished time spent with her grandson, Danny, especially walking the beach together in search of treasured shells and seaside finds. These quiet moments, filled with conversation, laughter, and simple joy, were among her most cherished, and she savored every moment spent together.

When she wasn’t cooking up a feast, Karin enjoyed going out to dinner with her family, particularly savoring lobster dinners. She loved the beach and treasured life’s simple pleasures, including late-night drives to find ice cream and looking at holiday decorations during the festive seasons.

Karin is survived by her loving daughter Deirdre Clegg and her fiancé Jacek Wojdalowicz of Woburn, an adoring grandson, Daniel Sylvester, a sister Dolores Percuoco  and her late husband Vincent of Woburn, nieces and nephews, Richard and  his wife Diane Percuoco, Robert Percuoco and his late wife Ann, the late David Clegg and his wife Cathy, the late Kevin Clegg and his wife Nicole, Tammy Clegg and Tracey O’Keefe-Dagesse and her husband Reginald.

Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend her visiting hours on Monday December 22nd from 4pm to 7pm at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St. Burlington. Her funeral service will begin on Tuesday at 9am from the funeral home with a Funeral Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Malachy Church, in St. Veronica Parish, 99 Bedford St. Burlington, at 10am. Burial will follow in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to Saint Jude. Condolence to her family may be made at sullivanfuneralhome.net
