Demetrio George Pique Obituary

Demetrio “George” Pique passed peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, December 29, 2025. He was 84 years old.

George was born in 1941 on a US military base in Panama and came to the United States in 1953 where he settled in Newton, MA.

George began his career working on the piers in Boston. He spent his entire career in the seafood industry, upheld the value of an honest day’s work, and was highly respected by his employers and coworkers.

Blessed with ten children, he carried a strong sense of responsibility, commitment, and pride. George’s work ethic and devotion to his family were unmatched. He had a wonderful outlook on life and always tried to see the best in others. George had an incredible sense of humor, a quick wit, a talent for comical storytelling, and an endless supply of classic “Daddy jokes.” He loved unconditionally and was extraordinarily generous. It was often said he would give you the shirt off his back—and in George’s case, it was absolutely true.

You could never talk about George without mentioning his love of music and dance. He was always singing or dancing around the house. In the early 70’s, he met the love of his life, Maggie, at a party; their connection was instant, strengthened by their shared passion for dancing. The disco era was their moment – they even competed in dance competitions.

George also had many other interests. He was an avid gardener who could spend hours tending to his flowers and vegetable gardens. He truly loved the outdoors.

George leaves behind countless cherished memories and a powerful legacy as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He loved deeply, laughed often, and gave generously. He will be deeply missed and forever lovingly remembered.

George was the beloved husband of Magadalene “Maggie” Pique.  They made a wonderful team and created a large and loving family. George was the proud father of Teo Pique of Lowell & her partner Joe, Yvette Gallagher & her husband Wayne of CT, Georgia Pique-Gaston of Wilbraham, Xiomara Pique-Hart & her husband David of Jamaica Plain, Tashi Pique of Arlington, Gregory Pique & his wife Sinem of Wakefield, Talia Pique-Keenan & her husband Micheal of Milford, Mariah Pique of Brighton, the late Korrina Pique, and late Tammy Pique. He was the brother of Demetrio “Pickyboy” Pique, Delza Tunon, the late Minerva Destacamento, and late Felix Pique. He was the proud grandfather of Nicole, Joseph, Natasha, Shahana, Isabella, Jamie, Daniel, Salise, Sibella, Kyler, Gavin, and Koa.  He was the great grandfather of seven and an uncle to a host of nieces and nephews.
