Valerie Rose Weldon Obituary

Valerie Rose Weldon, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away on Tuesday, February 17, 2026, at the age of 83.

Born and raised in Queens, New York, Valerie was the daughter of Edward Fox and Rose (Coviello) Fox. She furthered her education at Katharine Gibbs School and began her career at the law offices of Milbank and Tweed in New York City. After getting married, she devoted herself to her home and children, later returning to the workforce as an administrative assistant at Leavitt Corporation in Everett.

A woman of deep faith, Valerie was a longtime parishioner at St. Malachy and St. Margaret's Churches, where she taught religious education and attended Eucharistic Adoration. She lived her faith through action, teaching swimming to disabled children at the YMCA and volunteering at the Fernald School helping residents get to and from Sunday Mass.

Valerie and her husband George met while vacationing in Mexico and married in April 1967. They settled in Burlington in 1968, building a warm home filled with family, tradition, and enduring friendships. Family vacations often brought them back to New York to visit relatives and friends, with cherished time at Jones Beach, Long Island and Eva's Farm in the Catskills.

Valerie's competitive nature was well known to all who knew her. Card games — bridge, pinochle, cribbage, canasta, and mahjong — were taken seriously in her home, but above all, games were a source of connection and joy. She treasured time spent teaching her children and grandchildren to play, delighting in the moments when a grandchild mastered a new game. She was an accomplished bridge player who competed in tournaments, but whether at the kitchen table or a formal venue, what mattered most to Valerie was the laughter and togetherness that came with every hand dealt.

Valerie was deeply independent, fiercely loyal, and a straight shooter who cultivated lifelong friendships at every stage of life. She will be lovingly remembered by all whose lives she touched.

She was the beloved wife of the late George Weldon who passed in 2017 after fifty years of marriage. She is survived by her daughters Louise "Lou Ann" Santos & husband Manuel of Billerica and Valerie L. Clement & husband Nelson of Hopedale; grandchildren Steven Santos & wife Shannon, Anthony Santos, Sarah Clement, and Catherine Clement; and her sister Linda Fox of Burlington.
