John J "Jack" Annese Obituary

ANNESE, John, MA, lovingly known as Jack and husband of Dorothy F. Annese passed away at home with his loving family by his side on March 22, 2026.  Jack was born on August 17, 1934, the beloved son of Angelina and Felice Annese. He was predeceased by his brothers Matteo, Michael and Carneo, as well as his triplet sisters Jennie, Rose, Marion and Mary Annese. Their home on Bradbury Street in Cambridge was a loving home, always filled with relatives and rich traditions. A favorite tradition was making wine and sharing it with family, friends, and neighbors, especially around the holidays.

Jack dedicated more than 60 years of his life to real estate and was the owner and broker of Showcase of Homes, where he built lasting relationships and earned the trust of countless families. His clients were always his top priority, and he remained committed to his work, running the office until the very day he passed.

A humble servant and devoted man of faith, Jack was a member of St. Malachy’s Church, where he served as a Eucharistic minister, lector, and usher. He attended daily Mass and, in his quiet devotion, read the Bible each day, prayed the Rosary, and watched Mass faithfully. His compassion extended beyond the church, as he regularly volunteered on Wednesdays at a shelter in Lowell, always ready to lend a helping hand.

After Mass, he found simple joy in his routine visits to Dunkin’, where he could often be found sharing a coffee and conversation with friends. Known for his warm spirit and friendly presence, Jack was affectionately regarded by many in Burlington as its “unofficial mayor.”

He was also an active member of the Burlington Rotary, where he was deeply involved in fundraising and scholarship efforts. His dedication to service was recognized when he was honored as Rotarian of the Year.

Jack met the love of his life, Dottie, on St. Patrick’s Day in 1961 at the Marsh Post in Cambridge, beginning a lifelong love story that would span more than 63 years of marriage. Together they built a life rooted in love, partnership, and cherished memories.  He often reminded his beloved wife, Dottie, “At the end of our lives, the homes we owned, the cars we drove, and the things we possessed will not matter. What will matter most is that I had you, and you had me.”

Jack will be remembered as a loving father, deeply grateful for his two sons, who cared for him with unwavering devotion through years of illness, surrounding him with comfort, dignity, and love. He always led by example and was a strong mentor to both his sons.

He is survived by his beloved wife Dottie and his two loving sons, John and Daniel of Tewksbury, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Friends and relatives are invited to a Memorial Service at 10am at St. Malachy Church in St. Veronica Parish, 99 Bedford Street, Burlington. Guests are invited to join the family downstairs after the service for refreshments.
