Obituary of Raymond Boogaard
Raymond C. Boogaard, passed away surrounded by family at the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center on Friday, June 12, 2015. Ray was the beloved husband of 49 years to Mary (D’Errico). He was 73 years old.
Ray was born in Cambridge. He was raised and educated in Somerville. He was the son of the late Claude and Marie Boogaard. Ray was a 1960 graduate of Somerville High School. After High School, Ray went to work for Local 4 as a Machine Operator in the Construction Industry. He worked on many projects throughout Massachusetts. Ray and his wife Mary settled in Burlington where they would raise their three daughters. Ray and Mary were best friends and their love for each other was apparent to everyone who knew them. They were inseparable, you never saw one without the other. Ray also loved nature and the outdoors. Fishing was one of his favorite things to do and he loved fishing at Horn Pond in Woburn as well as Walden Pond in Concord. Because of his love of fishing, Ray had two large koi ponds in his yard. He took great pride in his kio ponds as well as maintaining his yard. Tinkering with cars was another passion of Rays. He was proud to own a 65 Ford Galaxie Convertible, 65 Mustang and a 89 Trans Am. One of his favorite things to do was drive to Salisbury beach in his TransAm and get junk food, pizza, fried clams etc. Family was the most important part of his life. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and his great grandchildren. In his last days, he was very blessed to see the marriage of his youngest daughter Holly before he passed away. Originally, Holly was planning to be married in North Conway, New Hampshire but with the help of the Lahey Hospital she moved her wedding date up and was married in her Dad’s hospital room. Ray will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He will be forever missed and never forgotten.
Ray was the beloved husband of Mary (D’Errico). He was the loving father of Darlene Harring & her husband Philip of Chelmsford, Christine Talbot & her husband Thomas of Tewksbury and Holly Tienhaara & her husband Peter of Burlington. Proud grandfather of Christopher and Mark Boogaard, Philip Jr. & Ryan Harring , Alesha & Ashley Talbot and Raeanna & Rylie Boogaard. Great grandfather of Christopher, Jayce & Audrienna.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, June 18 at 8:45 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Mary’s Church, at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Wednesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
