Obituary of Barbara Cunningham

Barbara M. (Gullage) Cunningham, a resident of Burlington for 54 years, passed away at the Aberjona Rehabilitation Facility in Winchester on Friday morning, August 21, 2015. The beloved wife of the late John F. Cunningham who passed away in 2002, she was 85 years old. Barbara was born, raised and educated in Somerville. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Doris Gullage. Barbara and her husband John moved to Burlington in 1961 where they would raise their four children. She worked as a Senior Clerk for the Burlington Police Department for 14 years. She was also very involved in her husband’s and her son John’s company J. C. Heating & Air Conditioning, Inc. that was established in 1985. Barbara lived a very full and active life. She enjoyed bingo, bowling and playing a good game of cards. The family enjoyed their annual vacations together at Hampton Beach. She had an upbeat nature and was always “humming a melody” while working around the house. Barbara’s home was always welcoming to her children’s friends when they were growing up. Sunday dinners and holidays were an important and memorable part of the Cunningham Family. Barbara was blessed to be a part of her ten grandchildren’s lives, watch them grow into adulthood and start to raise their own families with 8 great grandchildren. Barbara was the beloved wife of the late John F. Cunningham. She was the Loving mother of Frances Kenney & her husband Thomas of Woburn, Donna DeAngelis & her husband Joseph of Quincy, Deborah of Burlington, and John G. & his wife Christine of Arlington. Sister of Marjorie Murchie of CA, Joan Spencer of Winthrop, Ronald Gullage and the late Doris Partridge, Charles, Joseph and William Gullage. Proud grandmother of Leaha, Renee & Thomas Kenney, Gina, Joseph, & Jamie DeAngelis, Kristina, James, Ryan, & Stefan Gochis. Also survived by 8 great grandchildren. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Wednesday, August 26 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
