Obituary of Rosemary J. DeLuco

Rosemary J. (Tidd) DeLuco, a woman devoted to her family and faith, passed away peacefully with her family at her bedside on Wednesday night, May 1, 2024.  She was 88 years old.  Rosemary was born on the family farm in Middletown Springs, Vermont.  She was one of nine children born to James and Marguerite Tidd.  She grew up in Bellows Falls, Vermont and was a graduate of Bellow Falls High School. Soon after graduating, she moved to downtown Boston and shortly thereafter met the love of her life, Edmund DeLuco at a square dance in Newton in 1954.  They were married in 1955 and settled in Burlington which at the time was a small farming community that had about 5,000 residents.  It reminded her of Bellows Falls which had a similar population and way of life.  Rosemary embraced her community.  She became involved in the activities that interested her children, joined clubs, and became an active member of the local Catholic churches.  She was a member of the Junior Women’s Club, Burlington Historical Society, the Red Hats, and the Burlington Council on Aging where she helped produce the monthly newsletter.  She was deeply involved at St. Malachy’s Church where she attended mass regularly.  She served as a Eucharistic Minister at the church and at the Lahey Clinic for many years and always participated in the church’s events. Rosemary loved socializing, being involved, and being on the go.

Rosemary worked for Seimens/Nixdorf Computers for over 20 years.  She started when her youngest was in middle school and retired when she was in her mid-sixties.  She started as an administrative assistant and later took on more responsibilities in the accounting department.  

Rosemary was a woman devoted to her family.  She and her husband, Ed, were supportive, encouraging and incredible role models for their children.  There were family trips to Lake Champlain, and camping in New Hampshire, and Maine.  Wherever she went, she made new friends.  She had numerous circles of friends from the neighborhood, church, work, her children’s friends’ parents, clubs, and numerous others.  Everyone she met always left saying how “sweet and kind” she was which is a delightful way to be remembered.  Rosemary lived her life in the way she wanted, being surrounded by family and friends, always deepening her Catholic faith, and treating others with respect and kindness.

Rosemary was the beloved wife of the late Edmund “Ed” DeLuco.  She is survived by her son James DeLuco and his wife Kristen of Stow, MA and her daughter Sheila McManus & her husband Steven of Hilton Head Island, SC.  She was the proud “Grammy” to Jim and Kristen’s daughters Alyssa Rose DeLuco and Sarah Jane DeLuco of Stow.  She was the sister of Robert Tidd of FL, Michael Tidd of MA, Joel Tidd of VT, the late Beatrice Bartlett, James, Edward, Harold, and Richard Tidd.   

Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington on Thursday, May 9 from 5-8 p.m.  Funeral on Friday May 10 from the Sullivan Funeral Home at 9 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy Church in St. Veronica Parish, 99 Bedford Street, Burlington at 10 a.m. Services will conclude with a burial at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.  Memorials in Rosemary’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, www.cancer.org, 3 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
