Obituary of Kim Murphy

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kim Murphy on March 25,2024.  Kim passed away far too early, at the age of 58. Kim has spent her life residing in  Arlington, Woburn, Clinton, and Pepperell to name a few. She was well known and loved within her communities.

Kim was preceded in death by her mother, Rita Carpenter, and her grandmother, Antoinette D’Errico, as well as Henry “Hank” Kehoe.

Kim is survived by Steven Murphy and his fiancé Stacy Granese of Lowell, MA and Dawn Murphy of West Boylston, MA. She is survived by her ex-husband Daniel F. Murphy Jr of West Boylston, MA. Kim, better known as Mimi, is survived by her grandchildren Caelan Murphy, Davion Murphy, Avery Murphy Ruiz, Jaxson Murphy, and Declan Murphy. Kim is survived by her sister Marie Osborn of Raymond, NH and her brother Robert Carpenter III and his wife Katie of Derry, NH. Kim is survived by lifelong friend Stephen Bridges, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Kim’s passion for being a hairdresser started early in life. She pursued a career in cosmetology, specifically hairdressing. She obtained her diploma and license from Minuteman Tech in 1983. After that she spent many years working at the Park Ave Salon on Mass Ave in Arlington. While she veered away from the career at times to work at National Amusement’s, and Dunkin Donuts she never left it completely. She continued to follow that passion through the entirety of her life.

Kim was a vibrant spirit; she was always up for a good time and a laugh. Kim loved with everything she had in her. She was an incredibly compassionate person, that would help anyone if she was able to. She had a heart that touched many lives.

Kim found joy and happiness when surrounded by her family. Whether that was at home, the Cape, Old Orchard Beach, the White Mountains, it did not matter as long as she was with family and loved ones she was happy and radiant.

As much as Kim would do for anyone, especially her children, nothing could compare to that of her grandchildren. Kim adored her grandchildren; they were her pride and joy. She often referred to them as her pumpkins. Known affectionately as “Mimi,” she relished every moment with them, always going the extra mile to ensure their happiness.

Kim will be forever remembered as a strong, compassionate woman who placed the well-being of others above her own. Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and love will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

A visitation for Kim will be held from 9am - 11am on Monday, April 1, 2024 at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington, MA 01803. A service for Kim will begin at 11am at the funeral home, followed by a Celebration of Life starting at 12pm at Polcari’s Restaurant, 309 Montvale Avenue, Woburn, MA 01801.
