Obituary of Jean Marie Hawley
Jean Marie Hawley, a retired Housing Manager, passed away suddenly on February 10, 2016. She was 73 years old. Jean was born in Cambridge. Her family moved to Burlington in 1957. She was a 1960 graduate of Burlington High School and then earned her Associates Degree in Business from Bay State Academy. She had worked for 29 years as the Deputy Housing Manager at Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, MA. She was the friendly face and voice welcoming service men and women and their families relocating to Hanscom Air Force Base. She would help them find housing, get settled, and ease their transition into base life. Jean enjoyed her many years caring for those serving our country in the Air Force. Outside of work, Jean was devoted to caring for her family, especially her parents John and Margaret Hawley. She enjoyed traveling and touring Europe. She loved summer vacations spent on Cape Cod. Jean was an avid shopper always looking for great deals and special gifts for those she cared for. She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, concern for others, humor, and welcoming smile.
Jean was the daughter of the late John and Rita Hawley. She was the sister of Barbara Evans & her husband Dave of Wichita, KS and Robert Hawley & his wife Teri of Ft. Worth, TX. She was the proud aunt of BJ Bartley, Conor Hawley, Makenzie Carpenter, LeAnne Napolillo and Holly Dixon.
A visiting hour will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, February 13 from 11 a.m. to noon. A graveside service will follow at 12:30 at Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Bedford St., Burlington, In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jean’s name may be made to the Friends of the Burlington Public Library, 22 Sears St., Burlington, MA 01803.
