Obituary of Ruth Weeks

Ruth I. (Whitman) Weeks, a resident of Burlington for 31 years, passed away at her home on Wednesday morning, March 21, 2007. The wife of Charles Weeks, Jr. she was 75 years old. Ruth was born in Brooklyn, New York. She was the daughter of the Late Paul and Elizabeth Whitman. She was raised and educated in Somerville and Medford. Ruth worked for the Burlington School system for many years as a Cashier in the school cafeteria. She spent most of her career working in the Burlington High School but helped out at some of the other schools as well. In 1993 Ruth received recognition from the Burlington School Committee “In Appreciation for Service to the Public Schools”. Ruth also enjoyed crocheting and her house was filled with items she had crocheted over the years. She also enjoyed playing Bingo. Ruth is the beloved wife of Charles Weeks, Jr. She is the loving mother of Susanne Irwin of NC and Charles Weeks, III of FL. She is the sister of Esther Jordan of PA, Sarah Smith of PA, Rita Reid of West Roxbury, Ann Murphy of Nevada, Charles Whitman of Utah, Elizabeth Parziale of Woburn and the late Dorothy O’Malley, Maryellen French, Laura McLaughlin, Paul, Wesley, and George Whitman. Also survived by 4 grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, March 24 at 12 Noon. Relatives and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours Friday 5-8 p.m. Interment will be private.
