Obituary of Beverly Marren

Beverly Jane (Reddick) Marren, passed away at the Lahey Clinic Hospital & Medical Center on Sunday, February 21, 2016. The beloved wife of George P. Marren, she was 80 years old. Beverly was born in Medford and raised in Cambridge, the daughter of the late Walter and Molly Reddick. She graduated from St. John’s High School in Cambridge. She met her future husband, George Marren at the age of 16 while working at the Publix Market in Davis Square, Somerville. After a six year courtship, they married in 1957. They settled in Burlington in 1961 and had 2 sons. Beverly had several different careers over her life time. She first worked as an operator at New England Telephone , then for IBM in the Schrafft’s building in Charlestown as an operator. When she had children, she became a fulltime homemaker. After her children were older, she was employed with Instrumental Laboratories in Bedford as a receptionist. Beverly had an outgoing persona and a quick wit. She was a people person and loved socializing with her family and friends. She lived in a wonderful neighborhood in Burlington, Ma. for 54 years and enjoyed the neighborhood social gatherings. Many of her friends and family would gather for swims with (The Bev )as she is known. The Bev would swim in full makeup, jewelry and lipstick, with not a hair out of place. She was a true lady of her generation. Bev spent many winter months in hockey rinks and at tournaments all around Massachusetts and New England with her 2 boys and friends. She was a long time parishioner of St. Malachy Church and a member of the Morgairs. She had a quick wit and was known for her one liners like; “Health, Happiness and a little bit of Buck”. She embraced life and lived it on her terms. She leaves all warm memories that will bring a smile to your face. Beverly was the beloved wife of George P. Marren. Loving mother of Charles D. Marren & his wife Donna of Lowell and the late Paul J. Marren. Grandmother of Kellie Rowland of Scituate, David Marren of Lowell and Brendan Marren of Osterville. Great grandmother of Mollie, Alice and Josephine Rowland. Family and Friends are invited to calling hours on Wednesday the 24th of February from 4-7pm at Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St Burlington, Ma. (Exit 34 off RT. 128, Woburn side). Her funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday the25th of February in St. Malachy Church, 99 Bedford St Burlington , Ma. At 10:00 am . Interment to follow at Pine Haven Cemetery Burlington.
