Dewey always encouraged me in the Lord while in the prayer ministry at Grace Chapel many years ago. He helped me make the decision to enter ministry. I still have close to 20 hand written cards he would send me while serving together in the Men's ministry. I'll see you on the other side my friend....Say hi to Moses and King David for me....

I first met Dewey on my way home from work ... I lived 2 miles from work and walked past his house many days. One day I spotted some nice quality wooden kitchen chairs on the curbside outside of his house and he came out when he saw me looking at them. They were extra chairs that he was giving away, and offered them to me. How generous he was! He also invited me to Bickfords, and within the month I had a nice breakfast with him where we could talk about our lives, and he offered advice. I learned he was a "Stephen minister", and my first name is Stephen, so I thought God may have brought him along to offer me some advice and Christian guidance. Since then, I always made it a point to stop when I saw him outside of his house and have a chat. He always sent me Christmas cards (and some birthday cards), and I still have the one he sent me in Dec 2015. He really loved Jesus and always made it a point to share his faith .... and I always smiled when I got those Christmas cards with all the words underlined... one of his "trademarks". I was happy to "give back" one day when there was a huge snowstorm and helped shovel out so much snow from his driveway! My job changed over 1 1/2 years ago, so I no longer walked past his house daily, and we didn't keep in touch like we had, with all the busyness of life. I'll miss his generosity and kind heart. The chairs are still in my kitchen, and they'll remind me of him as I use them over the years.

A privilege to serve side by side with Dewey for many years in Stephen Ministry. His deep caring for people will have a lasting impact to all those he served and those that served with him. Well done good and faithful servant.

Dearest Pat,
Words can't begin to say how sorry we are for your loss of dear Dewey. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers go out to you and to all your family.
Dewey has been our wonderful friend and neighbor for all of fifty years and we cannot, quite yet, realize that he has passed from this life. We shall miss his warm and friendly greetings as we waved across the yards, each morning. He was always so outgoing and gregarious, had a great sense of humor and an infectious and hearty laugh. He seemed to know "everyone in town" and would often recall many of them by first, middle and last names! Mainly, however Dewey was a very loving, man, so generous-hearted, kind and comforting, whenever he saw another in need. He lived his life so well and and he will long be remembered and missed by all who knew him. We know he is at Peace.
You and your family have our abiding thoughts and prayers, Pat and, of course, our love.

I am so sad to hear of Dewey's passing. I do know he is in the presence of the Lord. What a wonderful and joyful man he was. I was always so grateful for the loving care he gave my children along with Pat in Kidstown. I loved hearing his stories too. God be with you Pat. I hope to see you and hug you soon.
Love,
Cathy Pringle
