Obituary of David LeBlanc

David P. LeBlanc helped found the Burlington Recreation Department’s Club 55+. David P. LeBlanc passed away suddenly on Tuesday night, March 20, 2006 at the Lahey Clinic Medical Center in Burlington. He was 70 years old. David was born in Lynn, the son of the late Joseph and Christine LeBlanc. He grew up in Lynn and was a graduate of St. Jean the Baptiste School in Lynn. He was a great athlete in High School competing in track, hockey, and baseball. He continued his passion for athletics through out his life. He played hockey while serving in the Army during the Korean War. He coached Babe Ruth Baseball and his daughter’s softball teams. He continued to play Men’s Softball well into to his 50’s. David realized that the town lacked athletic activities for adults over the age of 55 and he worked with the Burlington Recreation Department to establish Club 55+. Club 55+ now offers Swimming, Bowling, Golf, Tennis, Ice Skating, Bocce, and other activities for adults over the age of 55 in the town of Burlington. In 2006, David was the recipient of the Burlington Recreation Commission’s Appreciation Award for his contributions in improving the quality of life of the residents of Burlington. David had a number of other interests through out his life. He was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. He played the clarinet and saxophone in High School and in the Army. He was a member of the Jaycees and the Knights of Columbus. He served on the Board at the Burlington Council on Aging. He enjoyed vacationing with his wife to destinations including, Hawaii, Aruba, Jamaica, Kennebunk, Maine, and had just come home from a Florida vacation last week. David had been a resident of Burlington for 42 years. He was a graduate of Suffolk University. He worked as a salesman at HT Berry Company and Butcher Polish Company. David is survived by his wife of 45 years, Viola (Goodwin) LeBlanc of Burlington. He is the loving father of Katherine & her husband Jonathan Leary of Burlington. He is the brother of Verna Daly of Lynn. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Saturday, March 24 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington.
