Obituary of Rosemary Delaney
Rosemary Delaney, a loving wife, mother, and sister passed away after 9 years of living with the effects of COPD. She was only 61 years old. Rosemary was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Angelo and Catherine Zamagni and was raised in Roxbury. She married her husband in 1981 and they settled in Woburn to raise their two daughters. When her girls where young, she devoted her life to their happiness. She was always loving, encouraging and supportive of her girls as children, teenagers and adults. Rosemary dedicated her life to raising her children throughout their younger years at St. Charles School and summers at the Winchester Swim and Tennis Club. She was her girls’ number one fan regarding all activities while growing up. During the girls’ youth, she encouraged them to participate in dancing, swimming, soccer, tennis, girl scouts and many other activities. She genuinely loved raising her children and seeing them grow into the adults that they are today.
The demands of motherhood lessened when the girls were in Middle School, so Rosemary returned to the workforce at Filenes (which later became Macy’s) first at the Burlington Mall and later in Belmont center. She started as a cosmetologist in the cosmetics department. Her supervisors soon recognized Rosemary’s strong work ethic and ability to connect with both customers and co-workers. Eventually, she moved from cosmetics to become the Operations Manager at the store. She worked until lung issues progressed and made it impossible to work any longer.
Rosemary was talented at both sewing and quilting. When she was young, she dedicated time to teach herself different types of sewing such as embroidery and cross-stich. She made table clothes, pictures, holiday decorations, curtains, clothes for her children and many other treasured items over the years. In addition, she loved doing all types of arts and crafts. During the past 7 years, she frequently visited Mary Roses’ Quilt shop and enjoyed spending time with her quilting circle. She taught herself how to make many beautiful quilts that are treasured by family members and friends.
She loved to cook and make a homey environment for her family. When they were all together on holidays, it brought her a lot of joy. She enjoyed spending time meeting her friends for lunch and shopping with her girls. Her dog Benji was always at her side and was a great companion.
Rosemary was the loving wife of 34 years of Paul B. Delaney. She was the adoring mother of Christine Delaney and her husband Peter Crudele of Danvers and Laura Delaney Crayton and her husband Matthew Crayton of Austin, TX. She was the daughter of the late Angelo and Catherine Zamagni and daughter-in-law of Mary “Bette” Delaney of Melrose and the late Paul Delaney. She was the sister of Anthony Zamagni of Fort Lauderdale, FL and Lorraine Wile of Woburn. Rosemary was joyfully awaiting the birth of her first grandchild.
