Obituary of Carlton William Lincoln

Carlton William Lincoln, Jr. a retired Electronics Specialist and Television Repairman, passed away after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease on Friday morning, April 1, 2016. He was 87 years old. Bill was born in Boston the son of the late Carlton and Alice Lincoln. He grew up in Cambridge and graduated from St. Paul’s School and Cambridge Rindge and Latin High School. He served two years in the Army during the Korean War where he held the rank of Private and was a member of the 167th Infantry Regiment. When he returned home he went to work as a television repairman for Transvision in Brookline. He was well suited for the job because of his keen ability to analyze a problem, see the solution, and have the skills to do the work. It also helped that he was easy going and personable which made him well liked by his customers. Bill saw the many changes in technology and decided electronics would be the future. He went to work at ITEK, where he worked on the Apollo Space mission. He then went to work at Raytheon and worked on the Trident, Poseidon, and Polaris Missile Systems. He ended his career at Textron working on the Pershing Missile System. Bill was as handy at home as he was at work. He wasn’t afraid to tackle any project including, electrical, plumbing or carpentry. He was constantly upgrading his home and built an entire addition to his home by himself. He owned a cottage on Webster Lake in Franklin, NH which he and his family enjoyed for 43 years. He would spend his weekends working on the cottage and on his boat. He built his own party barge long before pontoon boats became popular. His children and grandchildren have countless family memories shared at the cottage, swimming, boating, laughing, and enjoying time spent with family and friends. During Bill and Ann’s retirement years they travelled whenever they could visiting Ann’s family in Ireland and Bill’s in Montana, along with numerous trips to Florida, Canada, California and Maryland to see their son, Bill and his family When not putting additions on to his house in Burlington or New Hampshire, he enjoyed his favorite pastime, Tennis. Whether he was in Florida, NH or home he had a group of tennis buddies he could always round up. His neighborhood was filled with young families and they really enjoyed each other’s company. There were neighborhood cook outs and dinner parties, and the men were always ready to help each other in their projects. Bill and Ann always hosted the neighborhood Christmas party up until just a few years ago. Bill was proud of his Irish heritage. His wife Ann was born in Ireland. He was a member of several Irish social organizations including Roscommon Club in Boston, the Leitrim Club of Boston and the Billerica Irish American Club. He was also a member of the Burlington Historical Society. Bill was blessed with many gifts and skills and he happily shared his talent and time with his family and friends. Bill was the loving husband of 59 years of Ann M. (Wynn-Guihen) Lincoln. He was a warm-hearted and loving father to Kathleen Rubino & her husband Paul of Burlington and Carlton W. “Bill” Lincoln, III & his wife Christine of Ellicott City, MD. He was the brother of Joseph Lincoln of Great Falls, MT and the late Father John F. Lincoln, Lt. Col., US Army and Marie Barbush. Bill was the proud grandfather of Joseph Rubino & his fiancée Kristin Johnson, Peter Rubino, Jack Lincoln & Sean Lincoln. Funeral from the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, April 6 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, BURLINGTON.
