Obituary of Ryan Gilligan
Ryan Gilligan, a 2009 graduate of Burlington High School passed away on Friday night, February 10, 2012. He was 21 years old. Ryan was born in Winchester. His family lived in Somerville until he was 6 years old, and then moved to Burlington. As a youth, Ryan was very active in sports participating in Pop Warner Football, Youth Soccer, High School Football, & High School Wrestling. He also enjoyed cooking, playing tennis, basketball, swimming and fishing with his family and friends. He enjoyed the time spent with friends, skiing, going to the beach, playing cards, or just playing miniature golf. His family will cherish the wonderful memories of family celebrations, vacations in Florida, and summers in Lake Winnipesaukee. Ryan’s passing is difficult to accept, but his memory will live on in the hearts of all his family and friends.
Ryan was the beloved son of Paula J. (Scarpato) Gilligan of Burlington and James T. Gilligan of Winthrop. He was the brother of Shawna Gilligan of Peabody & her companion Matthew Wood and Jaclyn Gilligan of Burlington. He was the proud uncle of Jake Thomas Wood. He was the grandson of Roy & Mary Scarpato of Burlington, Elaine Gilligan of Holyoke and the late John Gilligan. He was the nephew of Mary Bergeron, Jane, Jack, Mary L., Matthew, Lili, Patricia Gilligan & Taso K., Susan & Robert DeMichele, Lisa & James Mortenson, Donna Zugarowski & her fiancée Darren Jacobs, and Matthew Scarpato. He was also survived by 7 cousins and many friends.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Wednesday, February 15 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
