Obituary of George Fitzmaurice
George W. Fitzmaurice of Concord, formerly of Burlington, died Sunday, April 3, 2016. He was 82. Born in Oak Bluffs, Martha's Vineyard and a graduate of Tisbury High School, he was a resident of Burlington for 45 years. He was a graduate of Bentley College in Boston in accounting. George was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army. He was a long time member of the American Legion post in Burlington. George worked at MIT Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington for 19 years, retiring recently. Over the course of his career, he was Manager of Revenue Accounting for Software International and Chief Financial Office for Executive Airlines , where he met his future wife Rose. They were married for 49 years. Husband of the late Rose Bramante Fitzmaurice, sister of the late Lorraine Fitzmaurice Kane, Mr. Fitzmaurice is survived by three daughters, Jean of Arlington, Julie of Concord and Elizabeth Seiss of Acton, and a son George W. of Toronto, Canada, grandchildren Teddy and William Terpstra, Meredith Oxborrow, Amanda and Madison Seiss, and a great grandson Sawyer Oxborrow.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., BURLINGTON on Friday, April 8 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorials in George’s name may be made to United Service Organization – USO www.uso.org
