Obituary of Concetta Coombs
Concetta “Constance” Connie” (Tauro) Coombs a loving wife mother and grandmother passed away after an extended illness at the Lahey Hospital on Friday afternoon, April 8, 2016. She was 85 years old.
Concetta was born and raised in Winchester in a home rich in Italian traditions and culture. She was a graduate of Winchester High School. Over the years had many careers as well as being a wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker. She started her career as a Legal Secretary for a number of law offices. She then worked as an underwriter for an insurance company. When she had her children she took a 14 year hiatus from the working world to raise her 3 children. When the demands of raising a family lessened, she went back to work at Filene’s Basement in Burlington. At work she was Connie and she worked at the service desk for 18 years until the doors closed for the final time at the Burlington location. Concetta had lived in Burlington since 1968 and over the years she became friends with the women in the neighborhood, bowling leagues, and her Bingo friends. She enjoyed her occasional trip to Foxwoods Resort. Concetta was an amazing cook. She had a great range in cooking styles from Italian dishes to her homemade pancakes which her grandchildren would devour. She loved animals, especially cats. She stressed to her girls be responsible, caring, hardworking, and considerate. Values which when then they became mothers they would instill on their children. She loved being a grandmother, where she could dote on and spoil her grand kids. She lived a life filled with family and love.
Concetta was the beloved wife of the late Victor R. Coombs, Jr. She was the loving mother of Lisa Powers & her husband Fred of Tewksbury, Christa Coombs of Burlington and Leah Wareham & her husband William III of Burlington. She was the sister of Janet Tauro Spellman of West Peabody and the late Carmella Tauro Marsinelli and Patrick Tauro. Concetta was the proud grandmother of Aidan & Collin Powers and William IV, Samantha & Madison Wareham.
A visitation will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Monday, April 11 from 12:00pm – 2:30pm concluding with Funeral Services at 2:30pm. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. A private Burial will be held at Massachusetts National Cemetery.
