Obituary of Paul Francis Taylor
Paul Francis Taylor, retired Vice President of Allstate Fabricators, passed away after a long illness at the Sawtelle Family Hospice House in Reading on Saturday night, April 30, 2016. He was 75 years old.
Paul was born and raised in the Jamaica Plain section of Boston. He was the son of Nova Scotian immigrants, the late Lloyd and Emily Taylor. Paul's family retained their family homestead in Wedgeport, Nova Scotia. So at the end of each school year, the family would pack up their belongings and head to Nova Scotia for the summer. It was during those summers that he would meet his future wife, Levina Richard, the pretty girl five houses down and one year his younger. They courted each summer and kept their long distant relationship during the school year. Paul graduated from Boston English High School and then went to Halifax Nova Scotia to attend a technical college. He proposed to his childhood sweetheart and they were married in Wedgeport, Nova Scotia in 1960. They returned to the Boston area at that time and settled in Burlington in 1965, where they raised their 4 children. Paul had a mechanical mind and had the ability see the task at hand and know all the steps to accomplish the project. He had worked in the stainless steel fabrication industry for a number of years learning the trade and the necessary business skills. In 1977, a colleague, Charlie Rasmussen, sought Paul to help him in a new business venture called Allstate Fabricators. Paul was there on the first days, helping to build the fledgling company. The stainless steel fabricating company made custom made stainless steel products for commercial kitchens, restaurants, schools, and any other commercial installation. He was the Vice President of the company and the original estimator and helped grow the company to where there were over 50 employees. He worked until 2008, when health issues necessitated his retirement. He loved the challenges of his position, the lasting friendships he had with his longtime coworkers, and the interaction with his clients.
Paul was a person of community and family as well. He has been a member of the Woburn Towanda Club for since 1966. He participated in many of the clubs activities and events including, bowling, softball and pool. He was a devoted and proud father and later grandfather to his four children and 7 grandchildren. He worked hard to provide his family. He was supportive in all their sports, activities, and life choices. He was also their role model showing them the importance of hard work, appreciating your coworkers, and gaining the trust and respect of your clients and customers. As he learned from his parents, Paul made sure his children and grandchildren knew their Nova Scotian roots and family. He chronicled his family's history as the family photographer. He also taught his children how to be independent and how to care for their homes, yard, and tackle any household project. He enjoyed filling his idle times working in his flower gardens, wood shop building whirligigs, birds, furniture, model boats, and any other project. He also shared his love of sports with his children. He was a football and hockey player, and enjoyed fishing. When his children grew up, he was always in the stands or sidelines supporting and encouraging his children as they played hockey, baseball, soccer. He loved being a grandfather and seeing his grandkids grow and some already heading off to college.
Paul was the loving husband of over 55 years of Levina (Richard) Taylor. He was the loving father of Paula Boudreau & her husband Daniel of Wedgeport, Nova Scotia, Janice Greaves and her husband Douglas of Burlington, Richard & his wife Jodine of Salem, NH, and Andrew & his wife Susan of Reading. He was the brother of the late Lloyd Taylor, Jr. He was the proud grandfather of Nicole & Taylor Kinton, Andrew & Stephen Greaves, and Alexandra, Adam, and Audrey Taylor. He was the brother-in-law of Marianne Taylor of Rockport, Jeanine & Bernard Moe, Rachel & Fred Watts, Vincentine & Brett Woodbury all of Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends.
