Obituary of Dorothy H. Keyser Talalas

Dorothy H. (Marshall-Keyser) Talalas, a woman devoted to her family and her church, passed away at her home in Burlington on Friday morning, June 17, 2016. She was 98 years old. Dorothy was born and raised in Cambridge. She was the daughter of the late Bernard and Mary Marshall. After marrying her first husband Kenneth she moved to the state of Maine where she lived until he passed away after 15 years of marriage. Dorothy then moved to Burlington in 1957 where she would raise her two children Kenneth and Karen. She built her home right next to her brother. She eventually met Leonard Talalas and they were married for 20 years. Dorothy worked at RCA in Burlington for over 20 years and was very involved in projects related to NASA. Dorothy became very active in the community of Burlington. She was a long time parishioner of the United Church of Christ in Burlington where she attended Sunday services up until she was 97 years old. Her church and fellow parishioners were like her family. She was involved in various committees such as the Ladies Benevolent society. If there was something going on at the UCC you could be sure that Dorothy was helping quietly behind the scenes. Dorothy also enjoyed participating in the activities at the Burlington Senior Center. She loved animals most especially her beloved cat “Mitzy”. Dorothy was blessed to have a life that spanned 98 years. She leaves a powerful legacy of family and faith. Dorothy was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth R. Keyser & Leonard Talalas. She was the loving mother Kenneth C Keyser & his wife Karin of Burlington and the late Karen Keyser Copeland. Grandmother of Chandra Keyser of NYC, Daryl Keyser of Melrose, Valerie Keyser of Colebrook NH, Lindsay Davis & her husband Stephen of Burlington, John Berberian & his wife Melissa of Weymouth, Mary Cobb & her husband Josh of Plymouth, David Copeland & his fiancé Jaci Mason of Abington. Also survived by many great-grandchildren. Mother-in-law of David Copeland of Plymouth. Stepmother of Leonard Talalas of Kingston, Judy Heintz of NH and the late John Talalas. Sister of the late Ruth di Bettencourt, Walter & Robert Marshall. Dorothy was a long time employee of RCA in Burlington. Funeral Services will be held at the United Church of Christ Congregational on Friday, June 24th at 10 a.m. Followed by Burial in Chestnut Hill Cemetery in Burlington. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Thursday, June 23 from 6-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers Memorials in Dorothy’s name may be made to the United Church of Congregational, 6 Lexington St., Burlington, MA 01803 or the MSPCA at Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844
