Obituary of Stephen Carey
Stephen Michael Carey passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 27, 2016 at the age of 50. Stephen was a man who loved his family tremendously and had the keen ability to make those around him smile no matter what the situation. Stephen grew up and was educated in Burlington. He worked as a roofer and a chimney sweeper. The biggest joy in his life was his family. He loved them all and enjoyed special moments with each of them. It is not often that you see families go out to sing Karaoke together, but that was what they did; singing was one of his many talents and it brought him and those around him great joy. He loved singing the oldies, especially Frank Sinatra’s songs. They had so much fun and enjoyed laughing at themselves and each other. There was never a dull moment when he was around. He had a great sense of humor and was always coming up with jokes, silly comments, impressions and anything else he could think of to bring a laugh or a smile to those in his company. He also loved to cook. He could cook anything and it was always delicious. Nothing made him happier than when his sons, family, and friends sat around his kitchen table enjoying one of his delectable dishes. He was also a very knowledgeable individual and would have given any Jeopardy contestant a run for their money. He loved others deeply and unconditionally and was loved by all those who he touched during his 50 years. He was always there if somebody needed him. It was hard not to like Stephen, he had aura that people were drawn to. He always pushed for his sons to do more, to succeed, and not to let opportunities pass them by.
Stephen was the loving father of Stephen “Stevereno” Rao and Daniel “Danny” Rao both of Lowell. He was the son of Carol (Flavin) Schiavo of Burlington and the late Stephen John Carey. He was the brother of Cauleen Auerbach & her husband Nicholas of Plymouth, and Gabrielle Schiavo & her boyfriend Bartholomew McAndrews of Dracut, and the late Kenneth Schiavo, Jr. He was the loving uncle of Frank Arsenault of Lowell, Joseph Schiavo of Dracut and the great uncle of Christian Arsenault. He leaves his girlfriend of 6 years, Katherine Reem of Bedford and the mother of his sons, Tracy Rao of Lowell. He was also survived by many friends and extended family.
