Obituary of Marguerite Dalton
Marguerite Ann “Peg” Dalton, a registered nurse, passed away on Friday afternoon, July 1, 2016 at the age of 72. Peg was born in Boston, the daughter of the late Thomas and Virginia McInerney. She grew up in South Boston and Brighton. She graduated from Brighton High School and then earned her nursing degree from Shepard-Gill School of Practical Nursing at Massachusetts General Hospital. She worked in a wide variety of nursing related environments from St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Youville Hospital, Billerica House of Corrections , and ended her career at Mediplex of Lexington. She enjoyed her career and had a deep concern for her patients, especially children.
Peg was energetic, witty, spicy, and a bit feisty. She always seemed to manage balancing being a mother, running her home, and working as a nurse. She was always on the go. She enjoyed flower gardening. She loved to travel mostly to warm weather destinations like St. Maarten, Aruba, Florida, and more. Florida was a yearly trip so she could visit with her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and enjoyed all sorts of genres from crime, mysteries, romance, and history. She loved to shop and loved finding the perfect gift or great deal. She enjoyed “Girls Days” which was a day spent with her daughter or granddaughters shopping, going for lunch, and the Salon. She liked playing cards, especially poker with her family and friends. She had a sharp wit and a dry humor that she often attributed to her Southie upbringing. She had been a resident of Burlington since 1966. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and neighbors.
Peg had celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary with her husband Frank on May 7. They had met when she was working as a nurse and Frank’s mother was one of her patients. Frank’s mom nudged them along until they started dating. She was a very proud mother of her three children and their spouses and companions; Kelly Ann of Brandon, FL, Francis Henry “Frank” III & his wife Paula of Quincy, and Michael Brian & his companion Santa Sepulveda of Salem, MA. She was the sister of Thomas McInerney of Billerica, Joseph McInerney of Woburn, Marie Baughman of Rochester, NH, and the late Kevin McInerney. Peg was the very proud and doting grandmother of Ashley & Alyssa Osborne, Elizabeth Rae, Daniel Dalton, Caitlin “Katie”, Ryan, and Kirsten Halley and great grandmother of Kayleigh Griffin.
A memorial service will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Tuesday, July 5 at noon. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Peg’s name may be made to the MSPCA, 350 South Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02130 or www.mspca.org.
