Obituary of Paul J. Keenan

Paul J. Keenan passed away unexpectedly at the Lahey Clinic Hospital & Medical Center on Saturday morning, July 16, 2016. The beloved husband of Ann (Kennedy) he was 79 years old. Paul was born and raised in Dorchester. He was the son of the late Charles and Theresa Keenan. Paul was a graduate of Dorchester High School. After High School he attended both Bryant and Stratton College and Northeastern University. It was while living in Dorchester that he would meet his future wife Ann Kennedy. They would marry on May 9, 1959 and move to Burlington in 1965 where they would raise their four children. Paul had a long and distinguished career as a Product Manager in the Printed Circuit Industry. He was also an avid photographer and during his younger years he worked for the Boston Herald with his specialty being crime scene photography. Paul loved the summer and being outdoors. He enjoyed nothing better on a summer day than to sit in an Adirondack chair in his yard enjoying the warm summer sun! In later years Paul and Ann enjoyed taking trips to Cape Cod with their daughter Ann. He was a car enthusiast and was a “self taught” handy man. Paul was the one to change the oil in all the family cars, wash and wax, do minor repairs around the house – you name it and Paul would do it! There wasn’t a project that he wouldn’t tackle. Paul was also a man of faith. He was a longtime Parishioner of St. Malachy Parish where he was an usher for many years. He was also a Third Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Paul loved his family. He could be quoted as saying “This is what I enjoy – having all my family together.” Paul’s philosophy in life was that you never had to “go it alone” family would always be there to help and support each other. They would “Circle the Wagons”. Paul was the beloved husband of 57 years of Ann (Kennedy). He was the loving father of Linda Hakimi & her husband Sharam of Atkinson, NH, Ann Judkins & her husband Ronald of Wilmington, Paul Keenan, Jr. of Merrimack, NH and Carolyn O’Connor & her husband Brian of Dracut. Proud “Grampy” of Amanda Trejo & her husband Jarrod; Brittany Hakimi; Hannah, Ronald Jr. & Daniel Judkins; Joshua Keenan and Andrew & Shawn O’Connor. Great Grandfather of Addison Trejo. Brother of Charles Keenan & his wife Joan of Weymouth and Beverly Walsh & her late husband Paul of Braintree. Funeral from the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, July 22 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday 5-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
