Obituary of Annie Pigott
Annie Parker (Foster-O’Connell) a strong, courageous woman who battled many illnesses over the past years, leaves a legacy of family, passed away on Monday morning, July 25, 2016. She was 83 years old.
Annie was born in Everett and was one of 11 children born to Reginald and Bertha Foster. She grew up and was educated in Somerville. She went to work at an early age to help her large family. She then married and thought nothing of having a large family. She spent her life caring for and watching over her family. She spent most of her children’s younger years raising her 8 children and keeping order. Her family’s needs always came first. Her family consumed much of her time, which was fine with her. She loved the hustle and bustle that came from such a large family living in a modest home. When some might cringe at the thought of such a tumultuous household, Annie thrived. The dining room table, with some accessory tables when necessary, where the sight of all the holidays and family gatherings. It was also the gathering spot for family card and board games as well. Her Labor Day cook outs were an annual event for her family and friends. Her family shared many vacations in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. They started as camping trips spent in a tent and then progressed to a pop up trailer and finally a timeshare at the Mittersill Alpine Resort in Franconia Notch, NH that always seemed to exceeded the maximum number of guests. She loved road trips to Kimball Farm for Ice Cream. Her only vice was Annie enjoyed games of chance. She and her late husband, Richard where regular Bingo goers. Even after his death, Annie kept going with the help of her family and friends. She also liked testing her luck at Foxwoods, Atlantic City, and Las Vegas.
Annie’s greatest legacy was her large family. She was the mother of 8, grandmother of 21 and great grandmother of 31. She loved them all equally. As she lived her life, her children learned values including; family comes first, there is always room at the dining table, being fair and equitable, a home is more than a building, it is a place of love, forgiveness, material items are not always important, and that you need to love you family with your entire being. Her family learned those lessons well and when their Dad passed away 10 years ago, they promised him and their mother that they would care for their Mom and make sure she would remain in her home her entire life. Which they did!
