Obituary of Antonio Firmani
Antonio Firmani passed away unexpectedly at the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center on Sunday afternoon, Aug. 21, 2016. The beloved husband of the late Margaret (Frith) who passed away this past October, he was 83 years old.
Antonio was born, raised and educated in Canosa Sannita, Italy. He was one of 7 children born to the late Pietro and Amalia Firmani. After the War there was a wait to come America so Antonio chose to go to Australia where many of his friends had moved to. It was while living in Australia that Antonio would meet his future wife Margaret. They dated for four years and then married. After marrying and having their first daughter Licia, they decided it was time to move to America. They took a Luxury Cruise ship to America that took 6 – 7 months. It was a trip of a lifetime as they stopped at many different ports on the trip and saw the world.
The Firmani family settled in Malden. In 1975 they moved to Burlington. Antonio worked as a Machinist. He worked for Walbar Machinery for 30 years and then at Precision Machine in Chelmsford until his retirement.
Antonio loved to work in the garden. It made him so happy to grow his fruits and vegetables in his yard. He had the ultimate green thumb. He loved all types of sports. Antonio was a soccer fan before it became a popular sport. He loved going to car and motorcycle events. He was also a great golfer and fisher both salt and fresh water. Antonio and his family made many trips throughout the years to Italy to visit his family. He and his wife and children made a trip back in 1991 to Australia to visit family and friends. Antonio’s family was the center of his life. He had a wonderful 58 years of Marriage to his wife Margaret. He and his two children Licia and Pietro had a close relationship. They were there for each other on a daily basis taking care of each other and always being there for each other. Antonio was the beloved husband of the late Margaret (Frith) He was the loving and proud father of Licia Amalia Firmani and Pietro Antonio Firmani both of Burlington. Brother of Concetta Dalesio of Italy, Luigi Firmani of Malden, Licia Forni of Billerica and the late Vincenzo Firmani, Maria Mamarella and Ilda DiFabio.
Funeral from the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, Aug. 26 at 11 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington Noon. Visiting hours Thursday 5-8 p.m. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Stoneham.
