Obituary of Karen Fischer

Karen M. Fischer of Lexington died peacefully of Glioblastoma Friday August 26 at home, with her daughter at her side. Born between the great depression and second world war, Karen learned a quiet strength, acceptance and graciousness which would serve her well her entire life. She moved to Lexington with her husband Philip (deceased) in 1956, raised her three children, built many memories, and made many friends. She worked as a dental hygienist in Lexington for 40 years. Karen was an active member at her church, singing in the choir in earlier years. She volunteered at Lahey in Burlington for several years and was also employed as a cafeteria aide at Diamond Jr. High in the mid-1970s. Karen loved making friends, having friends, and being with her family. She was known by all to be a truly selfless, caring, sweet and kind woman. With those she loved, she shared her sense of humor that was subtle but exact. During the last several years Karen found a second life and much happiness at the Lexington Community Center where she made many close and dear friends. Karen is survived by her son Paul and wife Kim of Cape Elizabeth, ME, son Eric and wife Karen of Exeter, NH, and her daughter Sally of Ayer, MA. Karen is also survived by her granddaughters Kristina and Heather. Memorial Service to be held September 8 at noon at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 929 Concord Turnpike, Arlington, MA. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to MSPCA-Angell Memorial Hospital, Boston, MA.
