Barbara Hamilton

Obituary of Barbara Hamilton

Barbara A. Hamilton, a woman who embraced life and wanted her family and friends to celebrate her life rather than mourn her loss, passed away unexpectedly on Friday afternoon, September 23, 2016. She was 76 years old. Barbara was born in Waltham, the daughter of the late Jeanie Catherine “Kay” and Ernest Ladd. She grew up in Waltham and was a graduate of Waltham High School. At the age of 19, she married Frederick “Fred” Hamilton. Fred, a Burlington resident since 1948, brought Barbara to Burlington and they remained there for the past 57 years. Barbara had worked in the electronics industry much of her working career. She had been employed at King Seeley Thermos in Winchester, Sanders, and MACOM as an technician and quality control inspector. Barbara lived every day embracing life, seeing the joy, feeling the happiness, enjoying nature, and sharing love with her family and friends. Barbara enjoyed 57 years of marriage with her husband and friend, Fred. They made a wonderful home in Burlington where they raised their daughter, Sandra, and enjoyed being part of the community. Fred was in the American Legion Post 101 in Woburn, so Barbara joined their Ladies Auxiliary. They enjoyed the socials and charitable events held at the American Legion. She embraced Fred’s passion for old cars and enjoyed Sunday drives in their 1965 Cadillac Convertible which they owned for almost 50 years. She was a bird watcher and a huge Red Sox fan. She loved watching old movies. You never had to ask Barbara twice if she wanted to go on a trip. She had her bags packed and was ready to go. She traveled all around the United States, much by automobile. She especially enjoyed her trips to Arizona to visit her sister, Jeanne. She also took numerous cruises, most of them to warm weather destinations. She loved getting all dolled up and was just as happy sitting in a boat on a lake spending the day fishing. Her family enjoyed camping for many years with Mighty Joe Camp Ground in Milton, NH and Parker Pond in Maine being her favorite destinations. Barbara made the most of her time on this earth; traveling, socializing, sharing her love, and being a loving wife, mother, sister, and aunt. She would want those she loved to remember and celebrate the many wonderful memories she shared with them and always keep her memory alive in their hearts. Barbara was the loving wife of 57 years of Frederick B. Hamilton. She was the loving mother of Sandy Cwiok & her husband Michael of Palmer. She was the sister of Harry Ladd of Manchester NH, the late Jeannie Kennie and Ernest Ladd. Barbara was also survived by many nieces, nephews, and friends. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Tuesday, Sept. 27 from 4-7 p.m. and will conclude with a Funeral Service beginning at 7 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
