Obituary of Paul Iannazzi

Paul Iannazzi, former owner of East Watertown Cement Block Company and former co-owner of P&M Brick and Block of Watertown, passed away surrounded by family on September 26, 2016. He was 90 years old. Paul was born and raised in Watertown. He was a graduate of Watertown High School. Paul enlisted in the Army to fight in WWII and served as a Staff Sargent for the 375th Transportation Corps Harbor Craft Company which was responsible for ferrying cargo from freighters and transports that supplied the troops in Luzon and transported General MacArthur on his famous landing in the Philippines. Paul was proud of his military contributions. Upon his return from the war Paul learned the cement, brick and mortar business from his father, Angelo Iannazzi. Angelo founded East Watertown Cement Block in the 1920’s. Being a small business, Paul worked 6 days a week to make sure the company ran smoothly and ensure his loyal customers were happy. Paul married his wife Natalie 67 years ago. They lived in Lexington for 59 years before moving in with their daughter Valerie and her husband Paul in Billerica a year ago. Paul enjoyed the time spent with his family, puttering around his home, gardening, woodworking and taking on any home project his wife suggested. At home it was all about taking care of the “Girls”; his wife and 3 daughters. He was blessed with 4 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. He will be remembered as an honorable hardworking man who loved his family immensely. Paul was the loving husband of Natalie (Varkas) Iannazzi. He was the loving father of Valerie Bellino & her husband Paul of Billerica, Paula Sheehan & her husband Frank of Woburn and the late Angela Potter & her husband Kevin Potter of Burlington. He was the brother of Josephine Iannazzi DeLeo of Winchester and the late Cosmo Iannazzi, Regina Iannazzi Riccio, Rose Iannazzi Scotti and Cosmo “Mimi” Iannazzi. Paul was the proud grandfather of Paul Joseph Bellino, Noelle Bellino Sammon, Kevin Potter, Jr. & Alexander Potter and great grandfather of Mariella & Adrianna Bellino. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at the Taxiarchae Greek Orthodox Church, 25 Bigelow Ave., Watertown on Saturday, October 1 at 10 a.m. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment will follow in Ridgelawn Cemetery in Watertown. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, September 30 from 4-8 p.m. Memorials in Paul’s name may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.
