Obituary of Alfred Sera
Alfred “Al” L. Sera, a retired Accountant, passed away unexpectedly at the Lakeview House in Haverhill on Monday morning, October 10, 2016. He was 65 years old. Al was born in Chelsea, the son of the late Alfred and Kathleen Sera. At the age of 13, his family moved from Chelsea to Burlington. Al went on to graduate from Burlington High School and then earn his Degree in Accounting from Bentley University in Waltham. He spent most of his career working with his dad at Alfred Sera Inc. in Burlington. They did accounting for local businesses and small corporations. He ran the company when his father became ill and later retired in 2000.
Al was a very humble man, devoted to his family, and was happy following his own path. He would much prefer to stay at home and watch the Red Sox, Patriots or any other Boston sports team than go out. He had a great devotion to his parents and remained home to help care for them. He was a special uncle to his niece and 10 nephews. He always kept up on their activities, sports, and interests. He was a caring and loving brother who did not want to be a burden on anyone. He will be remembered for his own special unique sense of humor and his hardy laugh that filled the room. He was also a very spiritual person, always collecting bible verses and words of inspirations which he connected with. And whenever he finished a conversation with a family member or friend, he would always close with the words; “God Bless”! He has struggled with numerous health issues over the years, but his sudden passing was still unanticipated. It gives his family solace that the faith and hope that Al carried within him is now answered. He is reunited with his parents and all those who passed before him.
Alfred was the loving son of the late Alfred D. and Kathleen T. Sera. He was the brother of Mary Fay & her husband James of Burlington, Christine Sera of Billerica, Carol Griffin of Tilton, NH, Cathleen Ciulla and her husband Frank of Stoneham, Stephen Sera & his wife Terrilynn of Hudson, NH, and Pamela Piper & her husband Robert of Belmont, NH. He was the proud uncle of Michael Canney, Kevin Fay, Kathleen Hines, Robert DeFelice, Eric Griffin, Mike Griffin, Stephen Sera, Matthew Sera, Robert Piper, Joseph Piper, and James Piper.
A visitation will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn Street, Burlington on Thursday, October 13 from 10 to 11 a.m. and will conclude with a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited. The interment will be private.
