Obituary of Theresa Eason
Theresa Eason passed away on Thursday night, October 13, 2016. She was a 101 years old. It may seem funny to say she died unexpectedly, but she lived independently, still smoked her cigarettes, and was sharp as a tack. She was blessed with good health her entire life. She was born in Cambridge in 1915, the daughter of Italian immigrants, the late Anthony and Caroline Pullano. She grew up and was educated in Cambridge. She worked for over 25 years as a technician at BF Goodrich in Watertown. She moved from Cambridge to Burlington in the early 1950’s and lived there for 40 years. She eventually returned to her Cambridge roots where she had lived the past 25 years.
The secret to Theresa’s longevity could be her feistiness. She never considered herself “old”. It was merely a state of mind. She embraced life and was willing to be spontaneous and unpretentious. For example, her family took her to the House of Blues in Harvard Square when she was in her 80’s. She loved every moment of it and was bit of a celebrity with no one even close to her age. She loved the atmosphere, music, and all the youngsters. She was a great cook with her homemade donuts and sauce being a family favorite. Her dog, Dina, might have been treated even better than all her family. She loved decorating her home, collecting nick knacks, Sunday drives, going out to lunch, and testing her luck at Foxwoods. She delighted in family gatherings and seeing her family grow with each generation. She had countless sayings that made her family laugh. She was bit of a paradox in that she lived her life not by the Doctor’s rules, be it her own rules ….. “Theresa knew Best”!
Theresa was the beloved wife of the late Michael Matanza and Cleatus Eason. Loving mother of Mary Middlebrook & her late husband Richard of Burlington and the late David Eason. Sister of the late Adeline Noonan, Josephine Puglia and Alphonse, Peter & Salvatore Pullano. Proud grandmother of John Stephens of Chelmsford, Sandra Murphy of Lunenburg, Michael Stephens of Kittery Point, ME, Denise Middlebrook of San Antonio, TX and Randall Middlebrook of Helena, MT. Theresa is also survived by 13 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
