Martin you will be missed, you are a: gentle, kind, friend, to me and the communities and friends you have shared your friendship with. I am personally grateful to have grown through the ranks of the Knights of Columbus from the Squires to Sir Knight. I am blessed to have had a relationship/friendship for decades with you from BHS, ROTC and the track team to the most recent alumni or fundraising event in 2016. You were instrumental in encouraging me to return to college after a 28 year separation from education.
In 2012 I earned my BS @ Rivier College and 2014 MBA @ Riviera University. Thanks to my favorite Registrar, I am an Adjunct Professor @ Rivier and enrolled in the PHD program. Martin you were the giver not the taker, the true definition of "people helping people", God Bless my friend, always in my heart. To the Grace family, my sincerest sympathy and prayers.

I am in complete shock and my heart is heavy over this sad news. God bless Martin and all his family and may his soul rest in the loving peace of God. Martin was the most gracious and kind person. I ran into him quite a bit around town, and this past summer, we actually ran into each other down the Vineyard. I met his friends and we all shared some fun time and conversation. God bless you Martin. To all of the Graces, I am so very sorry for your loss.

I had the pleasure of meeting Martin and we became Elks buddies. Martin celebrated his Birthday month, so I mentioned to him what is favorite kind of cake? He replied a Goofy cake,so googled and found the recipe and surprised him on his birthday he was so grateful. The last time Martin text me a recipe for Durban Park Indian pudding, I said to him Martin that takes about 5-7 hours and his reply was just saying. I didn't get to make for him just saying. Martin we will miss you. RIP

So sad to hear. Martin was "good people." Deep condolences to Martin's family and everyone who knew and loved him. The Grace family was respected widely in Burlington, and after meeting Martin's folks, it was easy to understand why. They were classy, dignified people who set a great example for their children. Martin was a very popular member of our Class of '78. He was smart, self-aware, self-deprecating, funny, and as Jimmy Crocker ('78) used to chide, "He could talk a dog off a meat wagon!"
I ran spring track with Martin, in addition to many other activities, and got to know him very well. We competed head-to head against each other, but pushed, respected and supported each other, despite the intense competition. There's an old adage about approaching life and challenges seriously, but not taking ourselves too seriously. Martin embodied that. His sense of humor was disarming and endearing. Imagine being one of only a few African American families in white bread Burlington in the 70's?!? I loved the fact that we called each other "honky" as a way of mocking stereotypes/labels. Martin was easy to root for, a good soul-thoughtful, earnest, and sincere. He had an innocence and trust about him that you had to love.
Much love to Martin, his family, friends, and everyone who loved him. RIP, brother. Love-Patrick
