The beloved husband of 58 years of Rosemarie (D’Errico), he was 79 years old. Eddie was born, raised and educated in Taunton. He was the son of the late Mary (Silva) Murphy. He worked for over 20 years as a Crane Operator at Nappy Crane Service in Everett. As a child Eddie lived on the family farm and his mom worked hard to provide for him. She sewed his clothes and made sure he did not want for anything. Eddie’s goal in life was to be the ultimate provider and caregiver for his wife and children. He did not want them to lack for anything. He accomplished that and more. Eddie was a talented craftsman. There wasn’t a job he wouldn’t tackle. He basically built his home on Douglas Ave. He did all the carpentry work and electrical. If he didn’t know how to do it – he would give it a try and be successful. He loved his home and took great pride in it. He had a green thumb and his yard was always beautifully landscaped. The three of them also took a memorable trip to Hawaii. His children would describe him as the “Best Dad”. To help support his son Eddie’s illness he turned the garage into the most beautiful room for him. When his daughter Cindy was diagnosed with Breast Cancer he retired to he could help care for her. He spent his days with Cindy while her husband was working taking her to her doctor’s visits and being her daily care giver. Eddie had a nurturing personality and a calming way about him. He lovingly cared for his mother-in-law and father-in-law who lived on the same street. There wasn’t anything Eddie wouldn’t do for family or friends. We wanted to say so much but then we realized that you all knew him and the kind of person he was. Hardworking, honorable, fair and just, a good neighbor and friend and most importantly a wonderful husband and father. I would like to read something our sister Cindy wrote about our father before she passed away describing him as a soldier. We believe her words exemplify our Dad. The Soldier Soldier represents a man of strength and dignity. He is humble, and never conscious of the wonderful gifts he holds. Soldier behaves as if the power he possesses is frivolous, and he never stops to relish in the fruits of his own distinctiveness - It appears not important to him. Soldier carries the heart and imagination of a child and the wisdom of the ancients. Humor is also no stranger to this knight. When you least expect it, Soldier will make you roar with his latest tale or adventure, or kindly provide you with a key to a mystery you’ve been struggling to comprehend. Always a man of action, soldier will attack each task put before him with a skilled hand and a strong determination. Nothing is too impossible for this champion. Hard work is his declaration of love and devotion to his family; He gives his all. No greater compliment can be given than when someone says, “Today you’ve reminded me of the soldier”. Love To My Soldier, My Hero, My Dad
