Obituary of Francis Crecco
Francis “Frannie” Crecco, a chef, restaurant owner, and entrepreneur passed away unexpectedly on Monday night, October 31, 2016. He was 75 years old.
Frannie was born in Medford, the son of Frank and Eleanor Crecco. He grew up and was educated in Medford. He married his wife Joanne in October of 1965 and they started their life together with a purchase of a home in Burlington. Frannie had a diverse career and enjoyed the many challenges he faced. He worked as a chef at Memory Lane in Somerville and Front Pages Restaurant in Malden. He co-owned with his sister Karen, Karen’s Hideaway in Watertown, and he owned and operated Carroll’s Italian Grotto in Burlington. To add to his diversity, he owned and operated Mass Food Systems which was a canteen service and he owned and operated a video store in Somerville called Video Spectrum. He also a number of smaller endeavors and side jobs that added to his mystique. He was independent, hardworking, and always let you know where he stood on a position. He had a great fondness for animals. He has always had dogs as pets. He treated them like children and his last dog, Peanut, would spend much of the day lying on his lap as he watched television. He was also a faithful supporter of numerous animal charities.
Frannie was the loving husband of 51 years of Joanne (Proia) Crecco. He was the brother of Karen Crecco DiCenso of Medford, Ronald of Londonderry, NH, Norman of Wilmington, and Donald of FL. Frannie was also survived by many in laws, nieces and nephews.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington on Friday Nov. 4 at 10 a.m. Followed by interment in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Frannie’s name may be made to Bosler Humane Society, P.O. Box 12, Baldwinville, MA 01436.
