Hi Ann,
I was so sorry to hear from Jeanne that Sam died. Was glad I got to spend so much time with you both at our 45th reunion.
He was so fortunate to have you as his partner.
Much loving memories of you all in high school days.
Georgie

Sam, you were one of my favorite people. I always looked forward to visits to Massachusetts and how comfortable you and Ann would make us feel. You hosted dinners so that we would get to see most of the family. You were a huge presence in your family and I can't imagine what it will be like returning to Massachusetts and not seeing you. I will remember fondly all the laughs that we had and, in particular, the time my mother was with us and she came up with the mantra, "Everybody loves Sam." We joked about it but that's how we really felt. I can't imagine how Ann, Valerie, Peter and your grandchildren are feeling right now. I know how much I will miss you so I'm sure their pain is unbearable.

Sam, you are and will always be missed tremendously. You were like a second big brother to me in my early teens. The 4 am weekend trips on the creamery truck to either the Boston area, delivering to stores, or to the farms of Beverly etc. to pick up milk were like an adventure to me. That huge bull with the " nose ring " that absolutely hated you ( I guess trying to reach out and pull that ring was not to his liking) always scared me. You found beauty and serenity in those fancy farms with the long curving gravel road about a mile long leading to the barns. You would drive much slower up to and down those ( compared to the paved road when I called you Mario Andretti) and talked about the maple or birch trees and how peaceful they were. The endless nights on Robinson Street playing the original hockey games , sliding the players back and forth and spinning them around to "take the shot". The football games on that same kitchen table using a match book and "flicking" it with one finger trying to score by having it "hang" over the edge of the table. And the "point after" holding the match book up and "kicking" it with your other hand trying to get it through the " goal post" made by the opposing player using his two hands as a goal post. I look back and realize you "extended" your hands a bit so I could score. There are so many stories that come back to me but you and I will keep them just to us. I will always remember them and I will always remember and love you.
Save a place for me right next to you,
Paul

Ann, Pete, Val and family, so sorry for your loss. I remember when we were coming for a visit I was a little worried since I hadn't seen you guys in quite a few years, and never as an adult. Of course you guys were great and it was such a nice time because we're family. Sam even let me help him finish the deck. Sadly that was our last visit. He was a great big man with a huge heart and a big smile, love you Sam.
