Obituary of Ambroisine Marie Trenchard

Ambroisine Marie Trenchard, a woman devoted to her family and church, passed away Saturday night, December 31, 2016 at the age of 85. Ambroisine was born in the town of Mavillette, Nova Scotia, Canada the daughter of the late Zachary and Charlotte Maillet. She grew up and was educated in Mavillette. She went on a blind date with a young Canadian Serviceman named Lloyd Trenchard. They fell in love and were married on June 25, 1952. In April of 1955, they immigrated to the United States and settled in Somerville. Ambroisine only spoke French and had to quickly learn English. She had a son and 3 daughters. After 21 years in Somerville, they moved to Burlington, where they have made their home for the past 40 years. Ambroisine worked at the housekeeping department of the Somerville Hospital for over 10 years. When she moved to Burlington, she took a supervisor’s position in the housekeeping department of the Lahey Clinic where she worked for 18 years. After her retirement, she volunteered her time at the Lahey Clinic organizing Communion calls and at the Winchester Home Companion where she visited shut ins and transported clients to doctor appointments and to do errands. She volunteered until she reached the age of 81. She was also a very active parishioner at St. Malachy’s Church in Burlington where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and participated in many of the church events, activities and services. Ambroisine was so thankful for all the blessings she received during her lifetime and by volunteering she felt more connected to God, felt she was making a difference in other people’s lives, and felt she was setting an example to her family that you can’t just have faith, but must live and share your faith every day. Ambroisine was the beloved wife of 64 years of Lloyd Trenchard. She was the loving mother of Kent Trenchard & his wife Pegi of Hopedale, Charlotte Zachary & her husband Al Klutchnikova of Redmond, WA, Grace Terrio of Somerville & her companion Robert McManus, and Colette Trenchard of Cambridge. She was the sister of Ira Maillet of Nova Scotia, CN, Anne Higgins of Dracut, Irene King of Kingston, the late Arsena Babin, Phyllis Comeau, Robert, Clifford, Bradford and Ambrose Maillet. Ambroisine was the proud grandmother of Paul Terrio, Michelle Fisher, Justin, Brad, & Kristen Trenchard, and Jarrett Austin and great grandmother of Ashley, Paul, & Jack Terrio, Ryan & Lily Fisher, Trey Austin, and Madeline Trenchard. Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (exit 34 off Rt. 128/95, Woburn side) on Friday, Jan. 6 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Malachy Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Thursday from 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
