Obituary of Alessandro Patalano
Alessandro Patalano, a talented mechanic, passed away on Thursday, January 12, 2016 after a long illness. He was 80 years old.
Alessandro was born in Gaeta, Italy, one of five children born to Carlo and Concetta Patalano. He was raised and educated in Gaeta, which was about 75 miles from Rome. As a child he learned how to garden, fish, and the importance of working hard and taking pride in your work. Alessandro immigrated to the United States, eventually settling in Burlington where he has made his home for many years. He worked as an automotive mechanic at Sorrentino Imported Cars, which was a Mercedes and Buick dealership. The franchise was later purchased Herb Chambers and became Mercedes Benz of Boston. His work ethic he learned as a youth in Italy made him an invaluable employee who could take on any challenging automotive repair. He proudly spent 35 years working on the finest cars in the world. In his leisure time, Alessandro followed the passions he had as a child in Italy, gardening, fishing, and boating. He spent hours tending to his garden and would grow the most delicious tomatoes some of which he jarred and used for his tomato sauce. He also passed his time boating and saltwater fishing. Because of his mechanical skills, he would could keep his older boat running like a top and would spend his summer days cruising around and fishing. Alessandro didn’t need monetary items to be happy, but rather a home with some land for his garden and his beloved family.
Alessandro was the beloved husband of 53 years to Annette (Ciano) Patalano. He was the loving father of Carl & his wife Linda and Raymond & his wife Nicole all of Pelham, NH. He was the brother of Vincenza Capobianco of Somerville, Andrea Patalano of Woburn, Carmina Valente, and Cosmo Patalano both of Gaeta Italy. He was the proud grandfather of Alessandro, Joseph, Sophia & Isabella. Mr. Patalano is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held in St. Malachy’s Church on Monday, Jan. 16 at 10 a.m. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Interment will follow in Pine Haven Cemetery, BURLINGTON. Arrangements under the direction of the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, BURLINGTON. In lieu of flowers memorials in Alessandro’s name may be made to St. Malachy’s Church, 99 Bedford St., Burlington, MA 01803.
