Obituary of Susan Earls

Susan (Lefebvre) Earls passed away at the Massachusetts General Hospital following a 14 month battle with Leukemia. The beloved wife of James M. Earls, she would have celebrated her 70th birthday on January 31st. Sue was born in Burlington Vermont. She was the daughter of the late James and Dorothy Lefebvre. Sue’s mom died when she was just three years old. She lived with her aunt and her grandmother until she was 13 years old. She had a wonderful close relationship with her aunt and grandmother who were so good to her. At the age of 13 she moved to Natick where she would attend Natick High School. She enjoyed school in Natick and made many friendships. Sue and Jim met and married in 1968 and lived briefly in Natick and Medford before settling in the Winnmere section of Burlington in 1978. Sue worked an Administrative Assistance in the HVAC industry for many years. She worked for Central Cooling & Heating and in Woburn and Red wing Oil Burn in Burlington. Sue loved taking trips back to Vermont. They spent their summer vacations in Vermont as well as Kathy’s school vacations. She had wonderful memories of her time spent in Vermont. Sue and Jim also took trips to Las Vegas and other destinations such as Cape Cod and New Hampshire. Sue loved to play Bingo at the Stoneham Boys and Girls Club on Saturday and Sunday. She had many friendships at the bingo and also helped volunteer her time selling the strips before the bingo began. Sue’s most treasured role in life was that of Grammie to her two grandchildren. She was very involved in their lives never missing a recital, sporting event or any important moment in their lives. She was their biggest fan. Even as she battled the leukemia she would go to their events even if it meant just sitting in the car. Sue had a special relationship with her daughter Kathy. They were more than mother and daughter they were best friends. Sue’s family was devoted to her. They were a loving close knit family. Jim and Kathy were constantly by her side during her illness. Jim would drive her into her appointments in Boston and them go to work in Cambridge. Kathy would get the children off to school and then head into Boston to pick up her mom. There wasn’t anything the three of them wouldn’t do for each other. Sue is the beloved wife of 48 years of James M. Loving mother of Kathlene Tracy & her husband Mark of Tewksbury. Proud Grammie of Tayla & Nicholas. Sister of James Lefebvre & his wife Judy of NY, Julie Cline of WV and Patrick Lefebvre & his wife Tonda of VT & FLA. Visiting hours will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, Jan. 17 from 4-7 p.m. Concluding with Funeral Services at 7 p.m. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials in Sue’s name may be made to CARING FOR A CURE c/o Mass General Hospital Development Office, Attn: Caring for a Care, 125 Nashua St., Boston, MA 02114.
