Obituary of Suzanne Carol Trefethen

Suzanne Carol (Drolet) Trefethen, a woman who loved her family and her church, passed away unexpectedly at the Lahey Hospital & Medical Center on Thursday, January 19, 2017. The beloved wife of the late Richard Trefethen, she had just celebrated her 74th birthday on January 16th. Suzanne was born and raised in Lynn. Suzanne’s dad passed away when she was a young girl and her mom and her Aunt Louise were left to raise her and her sister Charlotte. Louise played a very special role in raising both Suzanne and her sister Suzanne graduated from Lynn English High School in 1960. She married the love of her life Richard “Dick” Trefethen in 1961. They lived in Newton Falls for a number of years and then moved to Billerica to be closer to her sister Charlotte and her family. Suzanne and Dick had a wonderful life together. They enjoyed taking road trips around New England. She worked for John Hancock Life Ins Co.for over 40 years in the cash control department. Suzanne retired in 2002. Not one to sit idle she went on to volunteer at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington in the Breast Health Center. She loved volunteering at Lahey and made many friendships. Suzanne’s faith was an important part of her life as a child she was a member of the Lakeside/Wesley United Methodist church in Lynn . After moving to Billerica she became an active member of the United Church of Christ Congregational Burlington. She loved music and was part of the choir. She served on the Mission committee for many years. She loved being with her fellow parishioners whether it was at coffee hour after Sunday Services or participating in one of the many church activities. Suzanne was incredibly close to her sister Charlotte and her family. She thought of her brother-in- law Howie as her brother. Her nieces and nephews and their children were the center of her life. Nothing brought Suzanne greater joy than spending time with them. She was a fun Aunt who loved being part of their lives. She was blessed to have wonderful companionship in recent years with her friend Rob whom she loved dearly. She was always up on current events and movies. She loved a good debate among friends. Suzanne will be remembered as being a loving and generous woman who was a teenager at heart. Suzanne was the wife of the late Richard. She was the beloved sister of Charlotte Blaney & her husband Howie of NH & FL & formerly of Burlington. Beloved daughter of the late James & Dorothy Drolet. Special niece of the late Louise Sherwood. Proud aunt of Laure & John Farrell of Milford, James & Carey Blaney of GA and Joshua & Nicole Gravel-Blaney of Westfield. Great aunt of Nicole Hanley, Maggie, Erin,Danny, Eric & C.J. Farrell, Nicholas, Cameron, Cassie, Drew &Ryan Blaney and Zachariah &Amelia Gravel-Blaney. Sister-in- law of the late Phillip Trefethen of Dover, NH. A Memorial Service will be held at the United Church of Christ Congregational on Sat. Jan. 28 at 11 a.m. Suzanne’s family invites you to join them at the church for Suzanne’s favorite “coffee hour” immediately following the services.
