Obituary of Scott Ferro
Scott Ferro, a talented craftsman, passed away after a long illness, on February 1, 2017 he was 54 years old.
Scott was born in Waltham and raised in Burlington. He graduated with honors from Burlington High School Class of 1981. Scott went on to have a career as a Carpenter. He worked on many different projects as a carpenter but his specialty was “Finished Carpentry”. Once the home was built Scott would go into the home and complete the job working on cabinets, tables, counter tops, etc. Scott loved his work and took great pride in what he did. He had a strong work ethic and never missed a day of work. Scott was a family man. He spent every Sunday visiting with his Mom and Dad. He was very protective of his mom always watching out for her. His two children were his pride and joy. He instilled in them the values that his parents instilled in him that of a strong work ethic and family values. He taught his daughter how to play softball and sport that she continues to play to this day. Scott loved a good game of chess and taught both his children how to play. Scott was a lifetime member of the American Legion in Burlington where he had many friends. He was a very active member of the Legion and a member of the Color Guard. There wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his friends at the Legion.
Six years ago Scott’s life changed forever when he fell off a scaffling while working and suffered a brain injury. He was in a coma for 6 months and there was a long recovery period. Throughout his recovery his mom and his family were by his side. A year ago Scott moved to Florida to live with his brother David. He loved living in Florida but missed his family. In early January Scott was diagnosed with Lung Cancer and he passed away on February 1st with members of his family by his side. Scott will be remembered as a private, caring and quiet man who loved his family.
Scott was the loving father of Jessica DePrizio of North Reading and Scott Montefort of Billerica. Stepfather of Kim DePrizio of FL. Son of the late Elizabeth & Robert Ferro. Brother of Robert & his wife Lynn of Billerica, David & his wife Deborah of Port Richey, FL, and Lisa Fucile & her husband Jim of Billerica. Longtime companion of Jeanine DePrizio of Woburn. Also survived by many nieces, nephews & friends. Brother-in-law of Lisa Ferro.
A Celebration of Scott’s life will be held at the American Legion, 162 Winn St., Burlington on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 2 PM. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend.
