Obituary of Paul William Dumont
Paul William Dumont suddenly passed away from a heart attack while shoveling on Thursday, February 9, 2017 at the age of 50. Paul was born in Boston and spent majority of his adolescence in Somerville. Over the years, he has made numerous towns his home including, Randolph, East Boston, Quincy, Burlington, and finally Lakeville.
At the age of 18, Paul joined Local 6, The International Association of Heat & Frost Insulators & Asbestos Workers Union. Over those 32 years he has worked a variety of trades within the Union including pipe insulation and asbestos removal. He has worked all over the Boston area, in many of the major hospitals and major commercial buildings; most recently working on a project at Logan Airport. Paul was an outdoorsman. He had an activity for every season of the year. In the summer, he loved boating. He was a member of the East Boston Yacht Club and loved taking his 26 foot Sea Ray out on warm summer days. He also has several jet skis which he used when he felt the need for speed and adventure. He loved being out in the woods, camping, hiking, and sitting around a camp fire sharing stories and memories with family and friends. He owned a travel trailer for many years. In the winter, Paul was a skier. He was also a fan of all the Boston sports teams. Paul loved animals. He had four dogs with his favorite being his half English Bull and Neapolitan Mastiff, Maximus. Paul had many personas which prevailed depending on the situation. He was the strong and commanding union worker, the outgoing and friendly friend and neighbor, and sentimental and expressive family person. Some only knew certain sides to Paul, but those who were the closest to Paul, knew the special man who loved deeply.
Paul leaves behind son Brendan William Dumont of East Boston, daughter Alicia Meaghan Dumont of Dorchester, and beloved granddaughter Arianna. He was the son of the late William Dumont. Paul is survived by mother; Janice Avey, stepfather; Bernard Avey, sister; Stephanie, and two nephews of Burlington. Paul will also be mourned by his companion Christy Poulin and her two children, along with many aunts and cousins.
Funeral from the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St Burlington (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) will be held Tuesday, February 14th at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Monday, February 13th 4-8 p.m. Interment in Puritan Lawn Cemetery, Peabody.
