Obituary of Helen J. Madden
Helen J. (Haugh) Madden, passed away at the Lowell General Hospital after a brief illness on Wednesday, February 15, 2017. She was 84 years old.
Helen was born in Boston. She was raised and educated in Brighton. She was the daughter of Irish Immigrants the late Michael and Sarah Haugh. Helen married her husband Joseph at the age of 17. They were married for 55 years at the time of his death in 2008. Helen and Joseph raised their family in Brighton and eventually moved to Burlington in 1969 when their three children were in High School. Helen had many interests in her life. She enjoyed shopping, going to Bingo or just spending time with her family. She was a very independent woman. She also had a love for animals.
Helen was a wonderful mother. As a family they had many wonderful times together in Plymouth. She was very intuitive and could always sense when something was troubling her children or when they had something on their mind and would always be there for them in their time of need. She was always there for other family members and friends when they needed a helping hand or were sick. That was just the type of person Helen was.
Helen was the beloved wife of the late Joseph Maurice Madden. She was the loving mother of Joseph & his wife Emily of Billerica, Joan Leone & her late husband Joseph who passed on January 31, 2017 of Billerica and Jean Paton & her late husband Melvin. She was the sister of Matthew Haugh of AL and the late Anna Hogan and Mary Clancy. Helen was the proud grandmother of Joseph, Michael & Daniel Leone and Sarah & Diana Madden.
