Obituary of Donald L. Gelinas
Donald L. Gelinas passed away Friday morning February 24, 2017. Don was the beloved husband of Ann (McBarron), he was 82 years old.
Don was born and raised in Cambridge. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving his country during the Vietnam Era. Don was a recipient of the good conduct medal. He left the army to further his education. Don worked full time while he received his Bachelor’s degree from Bentley College and went on to obtain his Master’s Degree from Western New England University. Don married his wife Ann in 1960 and they moved to Burlington in 1963. As a family they would enjoy vacationing during the summers at Cape Cod where Don introduced his children to his love of sailing.
During retirement Don and Ann enjoyed traveling and visited some incredible destinations. For their 50th wedding anniversary Don and Ann enjoyed a wonderful trip with their children and grandchildren in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Don was an active member of the Retired Men’s Club of Arlington where he made many friendships and enjoyed weekly bowling with his friends.
Don will be remembered as a kind, gentle man who loved his family. He was proud of his children and blessed to be a part of their lives and their children’s lives. Don and Ann would have celebrated 57 years of Marriage this coming May.
Don was the beloved husband of Ann (McBarron) He was the loving father of Donna O’Hayre & her husband Tim of CO, Kevin Gelinas & his wife Kathy of FL and the late Andrew Gelinas. Brother of the late Helen Burke, Dorothy Donoghue, Ernest Gelinas & Raymond Gelinas. Grandfather of Matthew Gelinas, Rachel Neal, Keeley & Blake O’Hayre and Andy Gelinas.
Funeral from the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Tuesday, Feb. 28 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 p.m. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
