Obituary of Curtis Crocker
Curtis Michael Crocker, an exceptional athlete, outdoorsman, and devoted to his family and friends, passed away suddenly on Monday, March 13, 2017. He was only 29 years old. Curtis was born in Winchester and was a lifelong resident of Burlington. He was a member of the Burlington High Class of 2005. In high school, Curtis excelled in wrestling. He had a 47-29 career record with 44 pins. He was a two-time Middlesex League Champion, a Sectional Champion, and placed 3rd in the States in his weight class. Curtis went onto to Dean College where he earned a degree in Criminal Justice.
Curtis was the type of person whom everyone loved to be with. He could brighten up any moment. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He shared that passion with his Dad (late Michael Crocker), his grandfather, Jerry, and uncle Jim. They all loved their time in the woods, thrill of the hunt, and the camaraderie. Curtis was an avid surfer and would spend summer days at Hampton Beach, Fortune Rocks Beach, and any other location where the surf was up. He was always challenging himself to learn new tricks and catch larger waves. He was like that on the mountain as well, when he was snowboarding. Curtis was a bit of a showman. He loved to sing, especially songs by Pearl Jam and James Taylor. When he was out with family and friends, he wouldn’t hesitate to seize the opportunity on a stage to tear it up in a good dance off or sing karaoke. Curtis had an awesome sense of humor and was a born comedian. He could laugh at himself, and could put a smile on anyone’s face. He had many friends and a core inner circle of friends whom they called themselves the “VI”.
Curtis had a strong bond with his family. As a family there were so many wonderful memories; holidays they would all spend together, weeks spent in Martha Vineyard, boating, snowboarding, and hunting – anywhere he could. He shared so many of the same qualities, interests, and mannerisms of his Dad. Curtis was devastated when his Dad, Michael Crocker, passed away in 2014 from a long battle with cancer. For Curtis, he not only lost a father, but his best friend. He adored his mother and never wanted to disappoint her. He was the fun and vibrant brother. Curtis’s passing has deepened the sadness of a family who still were mourning the loss of their beloved Michael. They will look at Curtis’s life and remember him not in his passing but how he shined in his life.
Curtis was the loving son of Louise (DeLuca) of Burlington and late the Michael. He was the loving brother of Arielle and Cody of Burlington. He was the future Brother-in-law of John Connolly, Jr. He was the grandson of Gerald “Jerry” & Barbara Crocker of Burlington & late Concetta & Vincent DeLuca and nephew of Doreen & Arthur Boyd of Bedford, Donna Ryan & Roger LeBlanc of Franklin, NH, Deborah & Michael Lewicki, Richard DeLuca of Bedford, James Crocker & Cherry Ricci of Rindge, NH, Laurie & James Gulbrandsen of Derry, NH, and late Vincent DeLuca. Curtis was also survived by many cousins, the “VI” Crew, and many friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 18 at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington. Relatives and friends are invited. The will be no visiting hours and the burial will be private.
