Obituary of Marcia Frado
Marcia Gould Dougan Frado passed away in Allen, TX on Monday, March 27, 2017. She was 81 years old. During the last two years as her health declined, she continually surprised her doctors and rallied. Her daughter told her she was a medical miracle because she was turning back the clock with each medical crisis.
Born in Newton, the daughter of James and Effie Dougan, she grew up in Newton and Waltham.
She met Ken Frado in 1954 and within 6 months, they were married. He was the only man she ever loved. Together they raised their three children (Kenny, Brenda and Rick) in Billerica, Nashua and Burlington.
While raising her family, during the day she was a stay-at-home mom and worked nights part-time as a waitress. When the family moved to Burlington, she started her banking career at Woburn Five, then to Winchester Savings Bank and then to FDIC and traveled the country on business.
In 1995, she was offered a job in Dallas, so she and Ken moved to McKinney, TX. She thought she would eventually move back to Massachusetts, but fell in love with the warm weather, the inexpensive real estate and southern hospitality. She came back one snowy Christmas, got the flu on the plane going home and that convinced her she wouldn’t spend another winter up north. Even after living in the south for over 20 years, she never lost her Boston accent.
She enjoyed reading, knitting and going to community theater productions. She loved to hear all about what was going on back in Massachusetts. Jokingly, she would call her daughter to say it was 55 degrees and so cold in TX knowing Boston was having a blizzard.
Besides her family, Marcia’s passions were sitting by the ocean, watching the waves and going on cruises. If you told her you would go on a cruise with her, her bags would be packed before the cruise was even booked. She loved being out on the ocean and getting waited on and pampered for seven days.
Marcia was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth J. Frado. She was the loving mother to Kenneth R of McKinney, TX, Brenda and Dan McCluskey of Billerica, and Richard and Tina of Celina, TX. She is survived by her brother, Edward Dougan of Grants Pass, OR and predeceased by her brother, James Dougan.
She was the proud grandmother to Michael and Kevin McCluskey, Sean and Kenny Frado and great grandmother to Emily Frado.
A visitation will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Monday, April 3 from 10 a.m. – 11 a.m. Concluding with Funeral Services at 11 a.m. Relatives & Friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be private. Memorial’s in Marcia’s name may be made to the Kidney Foundation, 85 Astor Avenue, Norwood, MA 02062 www.kidney.org
