Obituary of Glenn S. Wilson

Glenn S. “Willie” Wilson passed away at his home, surrounded by his family after a long illness on Monday morning, April 10, 2017. Glenn encountered many complications and finally succumbed two years after receiving a double lung transplant. Glenn was born and raised in Arlington. He was the youngest of nine children born to Scottish immigrants; the late Thomas and Sarah Wilson. Being the youngest, he had a special relationship with his older sisters who doted on their younger brother. Glenn was a 1968 graduate of Arlington High School. It was in High School where he met his wife Geri Flynn. Geri was a sophomore and Glenn was a senior. They began dating in 1967 and married in 1977. In 1978, Glenn and Geri moved to Burlington where they raised their three children and became part of a community. Glenn loved sports and he coached baseball and soccer before his children were old enough to be involved. His two sons played hockey for Burlington High School, as well as town and select teams. He never missed any of their games. He was always there to cheer them on and support them. Glenn had a love of music that he shared with his daughter Carly. He would attend sporting events where she would sing the National Anthem and applaud on the sidelines of her field hockey games. Glenn had a successful career as a contract administrator in the manufacturing industry. He retired from Watts Water Technologies in North Andover. Glenn loved the ocean, the beach, and fishing. He and his wife own a second home in Old Orchard Beach in Maine. Glenn and his family loved spending summers together there and creating wonderful family memories. Glenn and Geri also loved to travel. Their favorite destination was anywhere in the Caribbean. They had a wonderful life together, supporting each other throughout the good and challenging times in their lives. Glenn was so proud of his three children and their accomplishments. What brought him great joy was the birth of his four grandsons. He was blessed to be a part of their lives, sharing many special times together. Whether it was visits to their “Pops” in Burlington or spending a summer weekend altogether in Maine. Glenn will be remembered as a laid back easy going man, who was always happy and the first to crack a joke. Even during his long illness he never let his health challenges get him down, never complained, and was always upbeat and positive. Glenn was the beloved husband of Geri M. (Flynn). He was the loving father of Jared & his wife Jackie of Swampscott, Jeremy & his wife Stephanie of Burlington, and Carly and her significant other Phillip Silveira of Medford. Proud “Pops” of Joseph, Thomas, Nicholas, and E. J. Brother of Ian Wilson of Chelmsford, Betty Allardyce of Canada, Mary Schussler of NC, Patsy Flanders of Lowell, Jean Bray of OK and the late Robert, Allan, & Thomas Wilson. Also survived by many nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Friday, April 14 at 10 a.m. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend. Burial will be private.
