Obituary of Annmarie E. Carey
Annmarie E. (Skelley) Carey passed away unexpectedly at her home on Thursday, May 11, 2017. The beloved wife of the late David E. Carey, who passed away in 2014, she was 72 years old.
Annmarie was born in Cambridge. She was the daughter of the late William and Edna Skelley. She was raised and educated in Cambridge and Belmont. Annmarie was a graduate of Belmont high school. It was while in high school she would meet her future husband David Carey. They were high school sweet hearts and married in 1964. They lived in Westbrook Maine for a few years and then settled in Burlington in 1973 where they would raise their three sons; Robert, Thomas, and Daniel.
Annmarie was an excellent homemaker and mother. She was always there for her children whenever they needed her, no matter the time or the place. She was their biggest fan. She had a wonderful life with her husband David who passed away unexpectedly in 2014. Annmarie and David enjoyed vacationing together and most especially loved their trips to Bermuda. When her children were old enough, Annmarie returned to work. She carved out a career by working for many years in the Video Teleconference Department at MITRE in Bedford. She loved her job and made many friendships.
In 2006 Annmarie and David retired to an over 55 community in Amherst, New Hampshire. Annmarie had a nice circle of friends in the community and enjoyed going out to lunch, taking long walks and just being with her friends.
Annmarie was blessed to see the birth of her four grandchildren Justin, Conor, Emma, and Dillon who brought great joy to her life. Annmarie will be remembered as a caring, generous and loving wife, mother and nana. Annmarie was the beloved wife of the late David E. Carey. Loving mother of Robert & his wife Stacey of Sturbridge, Thomas & his wife Cara of Lincoln and Daniel & his wife Marin of Burlington. Proud Nana of Justin, Conor, Emma & Dillon. Sister of Barbara Skelley of Belmont, William Skelley & his wife Linda of Belmont, Cathleen Mullins & her husband Kevin of Waltham, and the late Mary Elizabeth Skelley.
Funeral from the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., BURLINGTON (Exit 34 off Rt., 128/95 Woburn side) on Wednesday, May 17 at 9 a.m. Followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Margaret’s Church, 111 Winn St., Burlington at 10 a.m. Visiting hours Tuesday 4-8 p.m Burial will be private.
