Obituary of Sharon Sutter

Sharon Sutter, a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully at her home on Thursday morning, May 18, 2017. She was 75 years old. Sharon was born in Melrose, the daughter of Russell Brooks South and Evelyn “Bunny” South. She grew up in Melrose and was a graduate of Melrose High School. At the age of 21, she married her sweetheart, Fred Sutter. They settled in Burlington in 1963 and had two children. Over the years, she had a number of careers, most of which required that she have the summer off to be with her children. She had been employed at Sweetheart Plastics in Wilmington as an expeditor, at the Burlington News, Harvard Press, and at the cafeteria at the Burlington Schools. They were entertaining jobs, but she always considered herself a homemaker. Sharon loved the coast of Maine spending most of her time on Drakes Island and the last 26 years in Kennebunkport, Maine. She loved having her family up on the weekends to enjoy the beach and most importantly each other’s company. She was bit of a pioneer when it came to her cooking. She loved trying new recipes and had a large collection of cookbooks from which she would continually try recreate. Some recipes were huge successes, while others were works in progress. She treasured times spent with her daughter and granddaughter shopping, driving around town, going out to eat and was always up for an adventure. She was particularly proud to say she was a descendant of John Quincy Adams. Sharon’s legacy will be one of love and friendship. Sharon was the beloved wife of 54 years of Frederick E. Sutter, Jr. She was the loving mother of Barry Sutter & his wife Michelle of Wake Forest, NC and Shelley Sweeney & her husband Gerard of Burlington. Sister of the late Russell “Brooks” South, Jr. She was the proud grandmother of Ashley Sutter, Brandon Sutter & his wife Hannah, and Cameron Sutter. A Memorial Service will be held at the Edward V Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (Exit 34 off Rt. 128/95 Woburn side) on Saturday, June 24 at Noon. Relatives & friends respectfully invited to attend.
