Obituary of Peggy Lulsdorf

Gerda M. 'Peggy' Lulsdorf, a woman devoted to family, faith, and helping others, passed away peacefully at her home after a two-year struggle with ALS. She was 78 years old. Peggy was born in Hamburg, Germany. She was one of three children born to Heinz and Anna Perwo. Her childhood was spent in Germany during World War II. Hamburg was one of the most bombed cities in Germany during the war. Peggy had not known a peacetime until she was eight years old. She finished her education in Germany. She met her future husband, Heinrich 'Henry' Lulsdorf, at the age of 17. Henry moved to Canada and Peggy followed him in 1958. They were married in 1959 when Peggy was 20 years old. In 1966, they had the opportunity to move to the United States, eventually settling in Burlington. Peggy worked at Niton Corporation in Billerica as their Director of Human Resources and Accounting for many years until she retired at the age of 65. Peggy was a woman of deep faith. She attended The Church of the Open Bible in Burlington since 1967 and became a very active member. She served on numerous committees and was the Chairperson of the Deaconess Committee. Peggy not only professed her faith, but lived it. Her special ministry was that of kindness. She loved helping people, especially the elderly. Over the years, Peggy has faithfully been there to assist and care for her fellow church members. The Church of the Open Bible was more than just a church to Peggy, it was an extension of her family. Peggy loved her family and her home. She took great pride in maintaining her home. She loved gardening, caring for her house plants, knitting, and crocheting. She was a proud mother who lovingly cared for her children and supported them as adults. She welcomed their spouses and was so happy to be a grandmother of 13 and great-grandmother of 4. She was a wonderful role model for all and lived her life in a way worth emulating. Peggy was the beloved wife of the late Heinrich J. Lulsdorf. She was the loving mother of Mark & his wife Robin of St. Augustine, FL, Monica Chamberlain & her husband William of Burlington, Thomas & his wife Cynthia of Wilmington, and Suzanne Voegele & her husband Corey of Manheim, PA. She was the sister of Ernst Perwo and Ilse Stoske both of Germany and sister-in-law of E. Helen Lulsdorf of Lowell, Ursula Lulsdorf of Salem, NH, and Klaus Stoske of Germany. Peggy was also survived by 13 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and many friends. A Memorial Service will be held at the Church of the Open Bible, 3 Winn St., Burlington on Saturday, May 27 at 11 a.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.
