Dorothy Cheney Quinan, a published author, passed away at the Sheridan Manor Nursing Home in Tonawanda, New York on Monday, May 28, 2007. The wife of the late John Quinan, Jr. she was 97 years old Dorothy was born in Boston. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Helen Cheney. She was raised and educated in Charlestown and Somerville. Dorothy and her husband settled in Keene, New Hampshire where they raised their family. Dorothy was a gifted writer. She came in second place in the Sweetheart Stories Amateurs Writer’s Contest with her story “Paging Mrs. Steele”, had a script aired on the radio series &quote;Dr. Christian&quote;, and wrote screenplays, a children’s book, and other radio plays. She also enjoyed acting and appeared at the Keene Summer Theater in Keene, NH. Dorothy lived in Waltham from 1978 – 2000 and then moved to Buffalo where she lived for the last 7 years. Dorothy was blessed to live a life that spanned 97 years with many special times spent with her family and friends. Dorothy is the beloved wife of the late John. She is the loving mother of John & his wife Sandra of Buffalo, NY and Kevin & his wife Deborah of Topsfield. She is the sister of the late Isobel M. Cheney, Doris McCarthy, Irene Schell, and Eugene Cheney. She is the grandmother of John Quinan, III and Dana Quinan. Funeral Services will be held at the Edward V. Sullivan Funeral Home, 43 Winn St., Burlington (Exit 34 off Rt. 128, Woburn side) on Friday, June 1 at 12 Noon. A visiting hour will be held prior to the service from 11 a.m. – 12 Noon. Interment in Pine Haven Cemetery, Burlington.
